Speaking about pushups can you guys assist
>coworkers talking about doing 100 pushup a day challenge since gyms closed
>im an emaciated faggot with stick arms who never goes to the gym but decide to try this
>yesterday get out 90 over the course of like 3 hours between 3-6 PM (could really only do sets of 10 at a time)
>now shoulders in a lot of pain, difficulty moving arms and didn't feel anything in my chest
im really hoping this is DOMS on my nonexistent deltoids, but this pain was starting soon after finishing yesterday so im worried i had really bad form and fucked up my rotator cuffs. that would be just like me to try to do some exercise and immediately go to snap city
go
Conditioning work requires proper programming or else that happens

if you're going to do meme fitness challenges like this instead of a proper workout plan, you should start with incline pushups so that you don't hurt yourself.
I mean, ideally you won't do meme fitness challenges in the first place, but I digress.

0 -> 100 is a bad approach
I'm in the Air Force and our test involves a pushup and I have a low stress/effort program I follow as my test date nears. If you just want to increase the amount you're able to do at a time, the way to go is slow and steady. Here's what I do, find the amount you can do where you're just shy of feeling that lactic acid buildup. That's your start point. This is multi-week program where you'll do pushups throughout the day with an hour of rest in between (seriously).
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday:
select an 8 hour window and do a set of push-ups every hour on the hour. Again, I'm in the military so it's not weird for me to just stop and start doing pushups when my alarm goes off. Every week, increase the amount you do per set by 5. That's it. When you get to the point where you're doing sets of 40, increase your rest to once every 2 hours. In about 2.5 months, you can knock out 100 pushups non-stop without no problem.
You can honestly do more, but I don't want it affecting my workout and this is low effort enough that it barely effects my benching.
i appreciate your educated advice. to be honest i figured i wouldnt have even been able to do 10 pushups, thats how pathetic i am. i think as i had success i actually wanted to do more. i did something similar to your guys' plan, it took only 10 before i got pain so i would stop for a while, like 20 minutes.
hopefully i didnt really injure myself and in a few days i'll be fine. then i can just do something like a set of 10 when i wake up in the morning, a set of 10 2-3 times during the work day, a set of 10 when i get home, then a set of 10 before bed or something.
