/fat/ BMI edition

>Who is /fat/ for?
For infinifats who want to better themselves through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication.
This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss

>What do I do first?
1. Read the Yas Forums sticky
liamrosen.com/fitness.html
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage
fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your BMI
nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm
4. Calculate your TDEE
sailrabbit.com/bmr/ (complex)
fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html (simple)
5. Plan your weight loss week by week
losertown.org/eats/cal.php
6. Track your calories and macros with MyFitnessPal or Cronometer. Don't listen to memes, either of these are fine based on what you need
myfitnesspal.com (better for packaged food)
cronometer.com (better for generic food/tracking micronutrients)

>Now what do I do?
Count calories, all of them.
Calculate your TDEE at sedentary
Buy scales, be accurate in your measurements
Learn how to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 1g per lb of goal body weight.
Do cardio. Even if its just walking, cardio will improve your health which is sorely needed. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can off set the risks.
Lift weights. This will keep and gain muscle mass and burn fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body burning away muscle AND fat. You don't want this.
Post your height/weight/screenshot of MFP/Cronometer food log when asking for advice

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calorie count
Eat processed foods, or at least try to avoid if possible
Drink your calories. Alcohol, soda, hot chocolate, fancy starbucks shit. forget it.
Freak out over a stall in weight loss. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself.
Be a retard.

I'm pretty fat, and have been since I was like 12. I know you cunts know how it feels to be the fat guy and it blows.

Besides the OP and sticky stuff what's your personal advice? Seeing guys go from such high BMIs and cutting down gives me hope. I'm depressed and have some pretty severe social anxiety but I live in a country where if I get diagnosed and treatment some personal possessions would get taken away for said reasons.

I'm 21 and weigh 150kg give or take, I'm one of those guys who legitimately is """big-boned""" as I've got some dominant polynesian genes. I'm 6'1 and proportioned so I don't look like a whale but I've got a fat face and man tits. I'm just scared I'll have loose skin, as I've taken up drinking (so I'm getting a belly) to get through uni since my anxiety is retard level. Any help is welcomed bros you're all gonna make it.

From 32 to 28 BMI. Target is 25-26.

loose skin is always a possibility but the sooner you start losing weight the better because young skin is more elastic so there's a chance you'll have only a little bit of it. First of all stop drinking and start counting calories (I've started at 144kg and 1800 calories per day was enough until I got to about 100kg). For me the greatest way to combat anxiety from my college studies was getting into science fiction and fantasy literature every time I felt under big pressure, getting immersed in another world got rid of my stress and anxiety pretty fast so I stopped eating to combat stress. Start observing when you're feeling hungry so you can identify in the future if you want to eat because of boredom/stress/anxiety. You need to start exercising, best combination is to start lifting/bodyweight exercises three times a week and doing at least 30 min of cardio daily(best cardio for that is swimming and cycling because it's easy on the joints and with a exercise bike you can watch TV/listen to podcasts while you're exercising). Intermittent fasting and eating low carb also helped me reduce hunger but it doesn't work for some people so it's not guaranteed it'll help you. Start cooking your own meals, you'll become the master of your food intake, cook delicious healthy meals an gain a invaluable life skill

started at 26, now it's 22.6, still got quite a lot of body fat to lose

I'd suggest you to get rid of that fucking big-boned mindset right now.
At 150kg you're obese full stop.

Really? I'm , and I don't think I have too much left to lose, maybe 5-10lbs. Been lifting for around half a year.

yeah, you probably have much more muscles than me, in theory i'm working out for 2 years now but i've spent 4 years on a wheelchair so i started out with almost no muscles and fat only, imo bmi doesn't really work that great in that regard since it doesn't bf% into consideration

I'm in Australia and live in the tropics so running is always a bitch. I try to walk my dog for at least 30mins a day and try to get some runs in. I live on a mountain so when I'm not with my dog I try to go on walks around 10k steps. Each day I maybe do 15-20k steps, and it's closer to hiking than walking. I have a pool that I don't use so I guess that's on me for not using it like a retard. My intake is usually carbs or eggs for breakfast, leftovers or a sandwich, and a carb-heavy meal for dinner. I really can't help it with the carbs, people are buying up all the produce because of the virus (even canned foods) so I'm pretty much stuck with pastas and rice until I can afford real food again. Supermarkets here are price gouging the shit out of everything.
I know I'm obese, I was just using it to give you an idea of what I look like. I'm proportioned (like shrek honestly) so I just look really fucking weird rather than rolls and double chins. I'm under no illusion that I'm not a fat cunt, I wake up everyday and get reminded of it at uni by the looks.

lift, lift, lift, lift
if you just eat on a deficit or do cardio only, even if you lose all the fat you'll look like an auschwitz escapee with additional skin
i don't care if you can't do an push up or don't have dumbbells, you must workout, just search for exercises you can do without equipment, progressions etc

I had a gym membership and I tried going every night but it was pretty hard with my fatcunt anxiety and went up to $14 a week (I know).I need to lower my intake of carbs but I'm a poorfag so all the foods I can afford end up making the problem worse. What I'm gonna do is just try and fight through the hunger, supplement with water and coffee and stop being a bitch. My eating disorder is probably linked to my depression and all that gay shit since it feels better when I eat. Right now I'm doing a lot of walking so my intake is probably the main problem. Thanks for the advice anons.

Also I was ugly when I wasn't so fat so my motivation is pretty shot to shit, if I become skinny I'll just be ugly + skin wings which doesn't do my motivation any good.

then don't lift to be attractive, lift for yourself, everything feels much better once you aren't fat
also gyms are worthless at that stage, especially if looks of other people make you anxious, just workout at home

I know, the gym really didn't do much for me either. Anyways thanks guys I'll stop shitting up thread. Will lurk in these fatcunt threads from now on and post results if I make some progress.

Is there any reason that I've been growing more facial hair than normal now that I'm at a lighter weight than when I was a total lardball? I thought that hirsutism in women was mainly an issue with women that are currently obese.

Is working out while doing a serious fast supposed to wreck your body? I feel like I've had a medium level cold for a week and half now. (It's not corona)

>break a plateau and immediately go right back in one
Why is losing weight so stupid

If I wanted to get muscular and I'm slightly overweight, should I first lose the fat or stay plus sized while exercising? It would take me 3-4 months at max to become normal weight so I doubt I could make any gains in that time window. Do I gain more muscle if I eat more and stay plus sized? Please don't use f-slur

>consume more calories, but be prepared to cut back if I gain
>hit 157 after a week
I don't get it. I really don't get it, but I like hitting this new milestone regardless.

For what it's worth I haven't been putting on muscle. My only gains have been dick gains and extra room in my clothes through this journey so far. I've changed no habits during the plateau other than eating MORE at the end, it was like a random brick wall that made no sense and I'm still left clueless.

All I can think of is it was potentially water weight or something and the extra food helped cleanse the body of sodium or some shit and let me drop the fluid or something.

Working out to gain muscle will also burn fat???? Why do people ask this stupid question everytime. You can do literally both, you don't have to pick one

>feel like a flu is coming over
>eat
>feel better
what gives?

>work's out, mom is staying at home now
>have to explain alternate day fasting
God damn it.

Your organism feels better as it receives energy to combat the illness.

And the sentient fat cells are giving you an endorphin feedback for helping them multiply.

what is it really though? google wasn't helpful just useless crap about feeling more/less hungry when ill

BMI isn't calling you fat, you're just fucking stupid.

Do you know how BMI works?
It's strictly about weight.
It's literally kg/m2=BMI
WEIGHT divided by HEIGHT.

If you're heavy for your height, BMI tells you you're heavy.
It doesn't care about your ratios. Your knees and joints don't, either, so stop trying to justify being overweight by saying the simple measurement is the problem.

Man, this lockdown has been a godsend, I can't go to the shops to buy snacks and I can spend time every day in my home gym. How long do you think it's gonna last? This is the UK i'm talking about.

When purging, is there a way to avoid it from getting into my nose? It's often too clumpy still and then it sticks there and the feeling makes me genuinely sick for the rest of the day, like it's residual because I need to swallow it down again or sneeze it out...
