We're with you all the way, user. NEVER GIVE UP, or else you're just as bad as all the Normies.
We're all going to make it, brother.
Hell yeah brother
Don't worry about black pill and bluepill and redpill and all that . They're literally just thoughts living rent free in your head.
The thing is, you gotta take control of what you can right now and work up from there. Sleep, food, gains, skills. No gf required. No other person required. All you have to defeat, are the needless thoughts in your head
What are you guys reading right now? I'll start:
How to Win Friends and Influence People: Good book, contains the solid basics of influence, my dad recommended it to me, he read it many years ago and it helped him a lot.
Crisis of the Modern World: Interesting viewpoint on the problems of modernity versus traditional societies, mostly reading it to practice my french.
Casino Royale: Light, entertaining pleasure reading if you are looking for a novel. It's also based.
Poast book recs.
Currently reading Adyashanti's Falling into Grace
Please move this thread to /soc/ or /adv/. It's lost its meaning a long ways back.
Nice, what's it about? Do you recommend it?
does anyone have any good bodyweight routines i can do while self isolating? i cant afford to buy weights. i've been doing pushups and crunches but i feel i could be doing more
>How to Win Friends and Influence People
I've only seen retards read that book.
Tom Brown’s Field Guide to City and Suburban Survival
> Not a bad overview of things to consider in case of emergencies
> It’s a little dated in some ways (written in the 80s I believe) but some information is still good
> Advice on stockpiling, water collection and purification, staying warm in winter without power in a home, office, car, and more
I like his wilderness survival guide a bit more, but this isn’t bad either
Sounds good, I'll download it, you never know when that kind of info comes in handy. Thanks user.
I've seen this infographic all over Yas Forums lately. One method that has been very useful to me has been GVT-style use of these exercises. Hope this helps.
Like the list but meditations is religious pseudo-philosophy and is not at all motivating or inspiring
Please move yourself to a pullup bar, tie a noose, and do neck hangs to failure.
Are you illiterate or did you just not actually read Meditations before you posted this?
Can working from home ruin your body? I've been keeping up with my jogging at home instead of going to the gym, jogging about 90 minutes per day at 125-135 bpm and hitting 10,000+ steps per day, and yet in the last week I've gained 4 pounds from my last weigh-in. I don't think I've eaten all that much more than I did the week before, though I had much more carbs in the form of rice since leafy greens don't last all that long and I don't want to go out shopping each week.
Could it mostly be water weight, or am I really regaining all my weight back from being sedentary for most of the day?
Somebody post the mega link please.
here are some ressources for self improvement in various ways, compiled from different ressources over the last 4 years.

How to properly dopamine fast? Should one incrementally take away his dopamine triggers or cut almost all of it cold turkey? Does listening to music count? Or reading of any sort?
Yeah the universe willed it and it was just. It was my responsibility to the universe to read this shit book.
Thanks chief
You can train, read, meditate.
You can not fap, entertainment, socialize.
So when do you start to see gains from meditation, or what should i be looking out for?
On week 4 doing 20 mins in the morning atm, started at 5 mins a day then added 5 mins sach week.
Remove all hedonistic pleasures like games, sex, snacks and warm showers. Basically anything that gives pleasure short term, but not long term.
Is laying around / oversleeping considered hedonistic? I think so, but I don’t think I could give that up straight away
Yeah boi ur avoiding the point by sleeping. Go sit at a desk with some blank paper and a pencil for a few hours with no distractions.
Yes. Ask yourself the following question: does it improve me mentally and/or physically? If not, get rid of it.
You should see the gains immediately. For me it means being more attentive, being able to enter a meditative, relaxed state during the day and being able to cut myself off from stressful states of mind or pull myself off from something addicting, like endlessly scrolling Youtube.
The deepness of meditation differs. Daily meditation might not be as deep, but you can enter a deeper state when you really need it/will it.
Depends on what you're trying to accomplish.
My goal was to "steady" my mind and help with focus and determination.
How does meditation get any deeper? All i can do is focus on my breathing til the alarm goes off.
I 'unlocked' a deeper state by smoking weed and meditating once. After that meditation has been easier and deeper, even though I don't use weed.
A good way is also going outside, maybe sit on a park bench and meditate there. The environment is more interesting and there are much more distractions to suppress or ignore. It also carries over to any other part of your life, like relaxing/resetting during an intense work day.
I don't focus on my breathing because it feels awkard to me. Instead I stare intensely at any object and let my thoughts pass by the best of my ability.
Ive had some pretty meditative walks home when high so maybe i'll try actually meditating high.
Can someone explain the tinder, bumble, etc algorithms to me? For work I moved to an area which is in between two major cities and the vast majority of single women in their 20s go to the cities. Took me a long time to try any dating apps because I have no issue talking to women irl but after living here for about a year I don't seem to run into available ones that frequently. I know I am at worst an average looking dude and I assume I get buried in the pile of average dudes.
Do you need to pay to actually get anything done on those? Are these the waste of time they feel like?
You have an mmr. Upload new pics, and get more swipes. That's the best you can do without a hard reset, ie delete and start over.

I feel like this guy outlines it pretty good
Philosophy and spiritual awakening, seeing what reality is without your mental constructs about it.
Very profound and I highly recommend it.
mmr?
I mean... I'm not surprised since people with healthy social skills don't really need it.
It very much depends on where you're at. If you never had much ability for quieting down, you might see significant changes in a very short time.
If you've always been more introspective and had good tolerance for "boredom", the changes may be more gradual and thus you won't notice them until much much later. I recommend keeping a diary.
That said, the goal of meditation isn't really mental gains. I recommend you drop the idea of getting something out of it ( you do, but don't make that your reason to meditate ). Just sit and observe.
I recommend reading Culadasa's Mind Illuminated, or consider going to a meditation teacher ( the spiritual type, not the McMindfulness type ).
meeting a quality chick on the internet is kind of like a getting a job on the internet, it's different than irl and you are only going to see their resume.
the bottom line for these app companies though is that you probably won't get set up with who you want unless you pay money
holyshit no way its been a while since i saw the siganon mega.. hope hes doing well
What are some more things I can be doing right now to improve my life in the long run? I currently do:
>lifting routine
>cardio routine
>basic skincare
>basic investing
I want to get better at being more fashionable in terms of clothes and haircuts, but advice is very hard to come by. Also, is mewing actually worth it? What about that jaw strengthening gum and shit? I have a very weak jaw and receding chin due to my shit genetics.
How do I defeat mental gains goblins? I want to learn how to play guitar but I find hard to even try because I think it's too late for me to ever be competent at it.
>avoid xenoestrogens/plastics/etc.
>get at least a few minutes outside everyday
>don’t eat junk food, too much sugar, etc.
also fasting is generally linked with longevity and health in general
Thanks for links.

Thank you user, I'll check it out.
Based. Thank you brother.
I know what you mean so I ask you: too late for what?
You will bring joy to people even if you're a 60yo man playing the guitar.
If you mean neuroplasticity, that doesn't matter.
If you mean becoming a thing and swimming in pussy in your 20's, you can still do that in your 30's.
Accept your current potential, not the potential you had when you were a 14yo kid.
Too late to make a career out of it I suppose. I've always had this weird way of looking at things, if I can't get any tangible benefit from something I just talk myself out of even trying. If I wanted to do some mental gymnastics I could probably trace it back to an immense fear of failure desu.
I realized I was most motivated right when my horrible relationship crashed and burnt
I pushed myself too hard after that and now I'm apathetic and complacent
It was fear that drove me but now that it's forgotten and in the past I have very little to work with
its a dota/gaming reference. in regards to dating apps, basically its your overall social ranking. if you upload a pic and immediately get swipes then its a snowball effect and you are put at the top of the algorithm. if you upload a pic and don't get any swipes then you are put at the bottom of the algorithm.
it is worth reading because it has stuck around for so long and you might as well see what it says before dismissing it. it doesn't take long to read and you can read it for free. i obviously can't comment on what life was like when it came out, but you can get most of the points it makes from having a regular well balanced life growing up in a good family with a good education. so you have a point that people who are lacking are drawn to it for what they think it might offer them.
So if I don't have any momentum out of the gate I am better off starting over?
Depending on what your definition of a career is you can definitely start gigging after a solid amount of practice. Maybe after 4 or so years you can play gigs with a band or solo at restaurants.
Many of us have been there user. To maintain a health relationship with self-improvement we must realize that we are cultivating God's gift to us. If we make this about running away from certain issues it becomes destructive and vain. Hope this helps.
How do I find a sense of purpose in life? I want something to live and die for but everything seems so meaningless. Please help. I have become nihilistic and cynical.
I know this may sound cliché, but try to pray. If you don't know how, just speak to God, start with the Lord's prayer. Speak to someone who knows spiritual matters, your local priest or pastor. Take care user, find hope in Christ, I will pray for you.
Ask yourself
What do you /want/ to do?
What /should/ you do?
Keep asking these questions weekly, if not daily. Put them on a word document. Following these two things should give you a sense of purpose.
>something to live for
>something to die for
Life's just life. But you'll find something to die for, surely. For me it's my morals and principles. For you, it might be something else.
Read the Sam Harris book in OP
Models. Gave me an interesting perspective on my last relationships.
this book changed my life
