>5’10, bulking on 3000 cals a day doing greyskull >weight suddenly goes up 3-6 pounds per week for two weeks >stomach getting really fat, arms a little bigger, chest the same and can still see my ribs >my highest lift is my squat at 125 pounds >one rep max is 1pl8 on bench press
What the fuck guys. I’m eating 150g of protein, lift 3x per week and walking 2-4 miles per day. I look fucking awful now and unironically wish I was 137 pounds again as opposed to 155 and fat.
Bodyfat isn't going to turn you into some fucking strongman, idiot. It's nice to have a bit of fat, but you're making it out to be that you should 2pl'ing just because you gained 20lbs. That's not how it works. Be consistent with your lifts, eat and sleep, that is how you gain strength. You see those 160lb guys who're over 6 feet tall and yet can pull 4pl deadlift off the floor? They train up to it, plus it's the easiest lift to get heavy with.
Connor Barnes
>my highest lift is my squat at 125 pounds kek
Parker Price
I’m lifting 3x per week. I should be progressing and getting stronger but I’m not. I really just don’t want to gain fat.
Eli Edwards
Then cut down on your calories. You don't need 150g of protein, that's just bullshit supplement idiots want you to think. Try to maintain 100gs and just keep lifting. Bump up your protein once you hit 2pl bench and 3pl deadlift.
Sebastian Long
Ok I’ll try 2500 for a week and see what happens. What’s the logic behind 150g vs 100? I thought the lucky number was 1 gram per pound
Colton Williams
You're supposed to bulk with oats, not hamburgers.
I do eat steel cut oats fairly often. Recently I’ve cut all junk from my diet.
Elijah Parker
You have to lift heavier
Isaiah James
I physically can’t
Julian Baker
You fucking retarded shit
Matthew Scott
Lift fucking 6x a week on that diet. Or be lazy and eat like shit. Fuck you
Colton Gutierrez
How long have you been lifting?
Logan Morales
How should I lift 6x a week without rest? I do full body 3x already
Luke Richardson
You fell for the bulking meme. You only need a ~100kcal surplus.
Michael Campbell
A few months
John Nelson
Don't do full body every day. You'll never improve. Read the fucking sticky you cunt
Nicholas Butler
Getting strong takes time chief. Your lifts won't really be respectable until you're a year in.
In the meantime, chill on the calories. Aim for 1lb/week.
Benjamin Jenkins
How many calories would you suggest?
Carson Jenkins
Bulking is good for beginners that are starting from Auschwitz skeleton mode, or for the very disciplined that actually stick to the program. Ideal body fat percentage for building muscle is 20%+
Thomas Nelson
Should I just cut back to 137 and try again?
Leo Myers
If you want to build muscle as fast as possible, bulking will get you there. You will get fat, you will look fat, but if you lift hard you will build muscle under the blubber, like a sumo wrestler. People that fall for the bulking trap are the ones that stay on strongfat mode. If you don't want to look fat for the next couple of months then don't bulk and take it slow. One pound a week. It will take longer though
Elijah Fisher
Try 2700 or 2800. See if that gets you about 1lb/week. If it's still too much, drop by 100.
155 at 5'10" is still really skinny. Don't worry about cutting, just slow your roll.
Juan Wright
>5'10" >"""Bulking""" on 3000 cals >137 lb to 155 "and fat"
Oh jesus where to even begin
Jack Allen
Ok guys I’m cutting it to 2000 cals a day to see what happens.
Dominic Ramirez
you are eating at far too much of a surplus, your TDEE at 5'10 155 is like 2.5k cals, and i'm assuming that most of the weight you've gained from 137 to 155 is fat anyway, so it should be even less.
Angel Howard
See
Julian Martin
>155 at 5'10" is still really skinny.
Naw that can be chubby as fuck if you don't have any muscle.
Levi Wood
kek
Anthony Jackson
If you have really bad fat deposits, I guess? When I was 5'10" and 150 I was fucking tiny and had no stomach at all
Cooper Peterson
Are you adding weight each workout? In not familiar with greyskull, but I'm pretty sure it's a linear progression, so you should be adding like 5kg every week. Read your program again. If you aren't upping the weight like it says, you aren't doing the program and you won't gain. You may think there's no way you can do the set today so you think you can lower the weight, but that's wrong. Try as hard as you can, and with the amount you're eating you WILL be able to lift heavier weights for more reps than you thought you could coming in.
Aiden Thomas
I add 5 pounds to all my lifts each week
Samuel Price
I've just looked up greyskull and I'm seeing people say 5lbs per day for lower body, 2.5lbs for upper
Aiden Jackson
I don’t have 1.25 pound weights
Joseph Howard
Not really important, just add 5lb every other upper body workout. The important thing is you should be adding 5lb every day on squats /deads
James Price
Stringently adding the weight like that isn’t necessary, can just up the number of reps and make progression that way before you feel comfortable heavier
Logan Sanders
Low volume. Do a bro-split hitting every muscle once per week with high volume and keep counting calories and protein.
Joseph Russell
How? Im 5'10 as well and im on 3.7k calories yet i barely gain anything lol. genelet
Luis Lopez
1st year lifters need to shut the fuck up and stop giving """advice"""
Parker Lee
>inferior digestive system needs twice as much food to function properly >calls others genelets
never gonna make it
Ryan King
Actually the people that gain muscle fast have extremely inefficient metabolisms, storing fat is almost always preferable to muscle from a survival standpoint.
If we eat a fatty chunk of meat we blast away all the calories and store a bunch protein as temporary muscle tissue, where some tubbo non-responder wouldn't gain muscle eating that, his body would still store fat.
Anthony Torres
Op here
So now I’ll do 2000 cals a day, 150g of protein and still work out how I am now. Thanks guys.
you were a 137lb no-muscle weakling, shoulda been eating bw*16 to start like the wiki says
Ryan Robinson
Shouldn’t you eat at a 500 calorie surplus
Kayden Hernandez
>Ideal body fat percentage for building muscle is 20%+
How do you justify this? Considering muscle builds faster at lower body fats (to a point)
Oh you just pulled it from your ass
Grayson Barnes
>highest lift is squat on 125lb >1rm bench is lmao1pl8 what? also just do a slower bulk. i ran greyskull too to start, put on a little too much too quick, reduced my calories, and was fine for the duration of the program. if youve gotten too fat now just do a hard cut and then try to put some on
Andrew Anderson
Is that you in pic OP? Looks like you couldn't weigh more than 20 lbs!
Jaxson Richardson
You would have to have no muscle. I clock around 175 when trim (12%) at 1/2/3/4
Eli Morgan
Socks and coins. Come on man, get creative. 1.25 pounders are cheap anyways.
Jonathan Gutierrez
>my highest lift is my squat at 125 pounds You aren't lifting heavy enough, but are eating as if you are lifting heavy. don't eat above maintenance unless you're lifting heavy.
Are you bulking with sugary shit and bread? Maybe cut out the empty carbs and sugar and bulk cleaner. When I bulked from 125 to 160 in 5 months, i went up to 16% bf and my lifts were consistently going up.
Robert Morris
My carb sources are vegetables oatmeal rice and pasta
