Yes, that is what I'm saying. There is an upper limit to CNS gains. Once you get strong enough to do 4pl8 for 5 reps you'll quickly realise that you need 5 minutes of rest in order to get another set of 5.

If you're doing compounds at an appropriate intensity (i.e 5 reps of 85ish% of your 1rm) you will need 5mins rest between sets, easily. You don't lift heavy so you haven't experienced this.
