I have been training boxing for a couple of years. How difficult is it to transition into muay thai? If my instinct is to bob and weave will I smashed it the head with a kick?

Muay Thai and wrestling is a pretty good combination for the street.

Will take some time to transition, boxers stand heavily on the front leg, a Thai fighter will just kick that out from under you, also the clinch is basically standup grappling. Bobbing and weaving will get you kneed or kicked in the head, Muay Thai fighters stand very tall, straight on and most of their weight on the back leg, it's completely different.

That being said knowing how to box well will be a huge advantage once you learn the other aspects of Muay Thai.

BJJ is pretty useful if you know how to take someone down (wrestling, Judo and muay thai throws). It's why Muay thai and BJJ are such a common combination. A lot of fights do eventually end up on the ground (unless you have the wrestling background to prevent that).
As for the gay thing... yeah you grow out of worrying about that kid...

is just that bjj is just an addition to mma, muay thai, boxing, wrestling and judo are the most important styles. bjj likes to act as if it was the best thing ever when there are better styles, it is good to know bjj, but is not the most important thing to know

check out samart payakaroon, Somrak Kamsing and Lerdsila on youtube, they all use a lot of head movement

KICKS especially. people who don't do martial arts can still throw great punches, but I personally would have no idea how to kick without muay thai

relatively simple footwork to enocurage exchanges and eye for an eye mentality, hit back when you get hit to protect points.
footwork is primarly going back and forth but some modern muay thai fighters like sanchai have very boxing like footwork and head movement, still with a focus on back and forth, also the simple footwork allows you to press into more evasive boxing like fighters easily, muay thai pressing footwork is similar to mexican boxing style footwork.
hand are ok but you can perfectly blend it with boxing to have one of the most devastating striking combos.
muay thai also blendsperfectly with judo and wrestling for mma.

read the rest user, when i say "simple footwork" i don't mean bad or easy, i meant that muay thai fighters tend to saty in the pocket not only for the reasons i stated (promote exchanges and eye for an eye mentality) but also because staying square to your oponent allows you to chase easily agaisnt fighters that try to go right or left and stop their movements with kicks to keep them infront of you

ofcourse some fighters like sanchai have more complex boxing like footwork (wich i already mentioned)but they still mantain the core concepts of muay thai

I'd agree with most of this, although my experience is short (2 years training). I wished I did not stop, shame my body was too fucked up to allow me serious training.
Sum-up: hips and knees are fucked up so obviously muay thai is not going to be easy. I thought I'd transition to boxing to keep training a fighting sport, but then I started lifting instead, which feels less strenuous on my bones.

Does anyone here legit train Muay Thai?
If so, how many times a week do you train? Does it completely replace your gym time?

Also, if you have done Jiu Jitsu, which do you think is more fun? I really like BJJ, but Muay Thai is pretty seductive

Jiu jitsu is easier on the body, you can do it for longer and its fairly easy to compete in local tourneys.

Muay Thai is really hard on the body, probably can only do it seriously if you are young and Yas Forums, but it will give you a god-tier body. Competitions are brutal.
Only the toughest chads will stay dedicated

I do both and they are very addicting. Muay thai + Judo + BJJ to complete your game, they complement each other well.

I recently picked up muay thai about 8 months ago at 27, no martial art background whatsoever, train 2 times a week at one of the most prolific OG muay thai gyms in my city, plenty of regional champions from the gym. Our fighters recommend training at least 4 days a week if you intend to fight.

The atmosphere is super chill and you pace yourself to your liking. I haven't really been to the gym since I started, but that's because my life is busy at the moment.

This is the wholesomeness Yas Forums has been missing.

I'm undecided in muay thai vs boxing. I mostly want to be not completely helpless in a fight. but how do I find a good gym?

I'm a skinny manlet, how do I gain weight while boxing? I now it's a crazy amount of cardio but there's plenty of big boxers. should I gain weight for a year or so first and then cut by boxing?

I have other worries like getting a concussion or having problems with my brain later in life, is that something I should discuss with the coach to maybe focus on defense and dodging? or am I doomed to get dementia at 50 from being rattled around so much? 23 btw

Check the coach's credentials and see if there are people in the gym who compete.

You'll realise the gym atmosphere as soon as you walk in, the way the trainers interact with each other, with their fighters and fighters with each other. You wan't a friendly almost family level of atmosphere. What you don't want is everyone trying to argue who has the biggest dick.

Eating. Thing is you have to stay on a weight class that's comfortable for your body. You don't wanna be skinny and weak nor fat and slow.

That kinda depends on the person. See, Rocky Marciano was a guy that ate a lot of punches but never got dementia, while Floyd Mayweather Jr, who's got a defensive style, has a bit of it. You could ask the coach to teach you to be more defensive, since it's your main concern.

You're going to get hit if you spar, it's unavoidable. If you don't want a concussion, don't fight.
