thoughts on RTS' Project Momentum?

Why don't you post a picture instead of a virus?
Madcow has provided me with good gains for several cycles, but it's time to adopt more volume into my training. Should I deload 90% when switching over to Texas Method? Should I do 10 lb jumps on my squat and deadlift until I return to my 5RM training weight? If I do 5 lb jumps, it will take like 6-8 weeks to get back to where I was.
The Texas Method variant I'm using:
>andybaker.com
The first one was injury incarnate. The second one was actually pretty decent, provided you used the one you should have based on the 80% amraps.
Thoughts on mark bells powercast?
I miss when he featured different powerlifters or strongmen on his channel and they showed exercises or what they did for a workout. Talked about form and shit.

There are plenty of people whose sumo either matches their conventional or is lower than their conventional. It's about hip structure, limb lengths, etc.
you taking a piss bro
>bbbut i tried sumo it wasnt easier
becausw you dont know how to pull that way
same reason if you max grip with lots of arch on the bench it wouldnt be easier aswell, yet for lots of sub 100kg dudes that is easier
Evidentally it shows that sumo is easier, based on the data out there
youre not gonna tell me its a comparable lift if 100kg dudes are outlifting 180kg dudes who use straps and hitch
if you look at how all the big sumo pullers pull its all the same, really upright torso; some jabroni doing a wide stance conventional with small weights is not evidence
>Based on the data
What data? I know that as the weight classes go higher in nats/world's, the distribution of sumo vs conventional goes closer to 50/50. There were several trips here as well (some who have competed internationally) who pulled substantially less sumo, even after a long period of time hammering sumo.
>Smaller PLs vs bigger Strongmen
The skill ceiling is lower in PL. Many more events on strongman leading to less ability to specialize. Not to mention that the heavier you are, the worse you will be at deadlifts due to the horrible disadvantage fat puts you into for your starting position.
For example, in PL, deadlift records start falling off in general compared to squat around 93/105 weight classes and beyond, because of how much of a difference the extra bodyweight makes for the ability to progress with the deadlift. Not to mention that many of the records were set with conventional.
>muh anecdotal evidence
literallt every deadlift record under 120kg was set doing sumo, both ipf and lolfeds
might be one that wasnt but that would be an outlier in this case
The reason some people pull less sumo means that sumo has a higher skill demand, same for max grip max arch bench
Any of you goobers train 5 days a week? What does your programme look like
i trained 5 days in a row once
i then slept for 20 straight hours, no lie
You can't blame it all on skill demand. Peoples' bodies are different, with different muscle attachments, joint shapes, limb lengths, etc. If it was a straight difference, then there wouldn't be a 50/50 split as the weight classes go higher raw. instagram.com
>limb lengths
a sumo build doesnt differ from a conventional build, either you have a good deadlift build (chimp arms most importantly) or you dont. I keep seeing this argument but nobody can prove me wrong
>if you have short arms you have a sumo build
nope, short arms is just terrible for deadlift in general
prime example: cailer woolam has the best deadlift build yet pulls 40kg more sumo
And the graph you linked doesnt disprove me, actually backs up my statement, a clear favor for sumo across most weightclasses except 2-3. Not to mention all the records are also sumo except for the 120+
>Short arms
When did I mention arm lengths?
>Conveniently ignoring joint shapes/angle and muscle insertions
Hmmmmm
>Graph I linked doesn't disprove you
Except it does? For raw male, conventional begins to be favored at 93 kg. For raw female, it's almost 50/50 starting at 63 kg until shw. If sumo was as much of an advantage as you say it is, then surely this would be fully taken advantage of at IPF Worlds of all things.
only mens raw has 50/50 above 93kg according to that graph and the records in those classes are in sumo
muh 50/50 doesnt mean anyrhing if the sumo lifters perform better
the 105kg deadlift record is almost more than the 120+, that is in the ipf only. If you look at lolfeds the stats favor sumo even more
>muh insertions
Pointless discussion cause its something you can never prove or disprove
>Only men's raw has 50/50 above 93
I said that, however why would the female be so close to 50/50 for the weight classes I mentioned, except for shw which has a clear preference for conventional
>Equipped
You can't really use equipped in the discussion because by the nature of the movement, sumo allows you to get more out of the suit (unless your hip structure is too narrow to deadlift sumo properly)
>Sumo lifters perform better
But clearly since the number of sumo lifters isn't winning by a landslide in most weight classes, there must be something more to prevent the best of the best lifters in the world from choosing to use it
>Lolfeds favor sumo
Because sumo has a bigger advantage with the deadlift bar, unlike the power bar used in the IPF, it's not rocket science
>Insertions
How about hip structure then? That's easily provable, and guess what, people with narrow hips (such as Isley, who has competed at both classic and open world's) cannot deadlift better with sumo
>50% of the lifters use sumo so therefor its not better
this argument falls apart if the sumo lifters lift more
The other 50% either has never tried sumo, doesnt know how to do sumo or simply cant
anyway thanks to openpowerliftings database ill show you some data of every top10 lifter in those classes and youll see most lift sumo. Ill post it today or tomorrow
Using the world record holders can be fallacious as you're comparing absolute freaks to a more reasonable average. Wierzbicki is truly a different level from the other 105s. However, you said something.
>Simply can't
Guess what, that's what I've been talking about this whole time. If your hip structure doesn't allow for sumo, you will never pull more sumo, no matter how much you focus on it
>Open powerlifting
You can't compare deadlift bar weights to power bar weights. They're very different. Deadlift bars have a foot on power bars AND they allow for sumo lifters to skip the hardest part of the movement, unlike conventional deadlifters.
>the other 50% has never tried sumo
do you really believe that world level PLers just didn't bother trying something that could make them DL more and it was a simple oversight
shut up you fucking faggots

That's been tried so many times over the years and it never stops failing
No problemo, it's like communism
If I'm a pretty much brand new lifter with an interest in powerlifting, I've got a few questions if anyone's got a minute. I'm on SS right now and I'm feeling pretty great overall, to the point where I've decided to just work out every other day instead of three days a week. I've been listening to my body and I haven't been hearing anything except DOMS whining. Am I crazy and/or killing my gains by going this hard into week 2? I've been adding significant weight every workout successfully and even managed to fit in a cardio day this morning. I want to get big and strong.
follow the program, kid. We all felt that way early on.
You'll have to reduce the frequency eventually, it probably won't hurt you though.
However I recommend you stick with deadlifting twice a week (once you can't deadlift every workout) as long as possible, as the 1x/week frequency or even DL/chins/PC/chins/DL at the end as per SS is too low.
Dude I'm fucking 31, I'm no kid. That's why I'm worried. If I were 20 again I'd just be powering through this shit without a second thought.
>You'll have to reduce the frequency eventually
When will that point be? A lot of people here seem to be training five or six days a week. I get that eventually you need to train accessories to improve the actual lifts, but is that what you're talking about?

>When will that point be? A lot of people here seem to be training five or six days a week.
The people here aren't beginners
It's only the second week. Shit comes at you fast. Do it as written.
Most are 3-4 as far as I know
>When will that point be?
Pretty quickly
Don't worry about these things, just do the program and then you can worry about what to do.
Also the deadlift frequency might be high enough for you, I was just speaking from personal experience because for me 2x/week felt much better.
Hey lads, what the consensus on back rounding on DLs? I conventional DL 2x a week at the moment, and I would really like to slowly be able to do a 5x5 w/ 365lbs eventually in a month or so, but I'm afraid I'm gonna snap my shit up. I have a short torso and long femurs, so conventional has always been tricky for me, but I don't want to switch to sumo. Conventional is one of my favourite exercises, and I would like to do it as long as possible, but I want to make sure that I'm doing it safely.
