He didn't really give the full picture. P3P has a fuckload of extra content, QoL stuff, much better combat, and PSP emulators handle save stating and ffwding better than PS2 ones so grinding is way less of a hassle.

FES with the party control mod, if you aren't against emulating, is best for a first time playthrough imo. All of the style and presentation of the original game but with better combat since AI party members just isn't fun.

Everyone who says this is just a brainlet who needs full party control and P4's much more lenient One More system.

No needs involved, it's just more fun and objectively a better system.

AI party is cool, very playable, and thematically fits the game quite well, but there is literally no reason to prefer it over direct control. I beat FES multiple times as a teenager but I've only ever played P3P since when I replay P3 as an adult.

but I mainly care about the story
FeMC seems like it will mostly have the same shit but be more generic than the MaleMC route and the psp version doesn't even have cutscenes apparently which is a big turn off for me.

I really hate what P4 did to the combat. The old One More system was much better. At least P5 added some new elements, guns, baton pass and the like to make things more interesting. All P4 did is remove depth.

I have heard that the ps3 version of p3 looks a bit janky, but unless you want to navigate configuration menus dor an hour in pcsx2 you might have problems handling the ps2 emulator

emulate pcsx2. despite its problems, if your pc is good enough you shouldn´t need to touch anything and just load the iso. If you have a toaster, rpcps3 will handle P3 more poorly than what it already does so just use pcsx2 and watch a tutorial or something

Very debatable, even though the game is more streamlined and easy there's way too many things removed from the game that make it even worse for players to have to go through

I should have phrased in other way from the beggining. The ps3 version of p3 is playable but crusty so avoid it. Emulate ps2 but be aware that with pcsx2 you normally have to do tens of configurations to play as optimal as possible.

What does that have to do with the combat being boring? You only ever have to switch tactics for a couple of boss fights.
