No. It was catholic as fuck. The only message was don't be a retard about the faith which was why the game even happens.

Dark Souls just has a lot of medieval imagery, which happens to crossover with Catholic imagery due to who was in power at the time, but the mythos of Dark Souls is very explicitly pagan and polytheistic, so there's no real Catholic thing going on at all.

Heavily flawed
It has good art and decent basic gameplay mechanics going for it, the problem is that it was ruined by terrible obnoxious enemy design (and contact damage, which didn't really work for a game that wanted really hard to be like dark souls)
Basically every enemy in the game was something that I preferred to just run past when possible, because it was neither rewarding nor fun to actually fight them.

There is a Messianic figure though, which was Escribar but instead of salvation he proved to be a tyrant that enforced worship cruelly and without remorse. His mother then begged for penance for her son's actions from the Miracle which ultimately devoured the land and his followers into twisted abominations for their act of penance (though not everyone knows this).

Your order does and is tasked in slaying the His Holiness Escribar which none has accomplished so far (he had your order extinguished) until you finally slay him as a final act of true penance and take his place as a sacrificial messiah to absolve everyone's sins.

The ending however shows that it has not ended there yet and as the people have begun to consecrate you in penitent vigils a new tyrant will rise to slay your new followers and to 'erase your name from under the heavens' because she found you blasphemous for killing the last messiah (This is Crisanta).

What the Miracle will bring forth after that, who knows.
