Pathologic 2 thread
I have the 1st one HD and just started a couple in game "days". I already know a bit about what's going on because I'm retarded and I read the tvtropes page. Well,
what are the differences? Should I finish the first and then try this one? Is like a remake with a different view or what? I dont want to spoil to myself this one also.
Also, why "pathologic" and not "plague utopia"? The latter sounds cooler
Play Pathologic 2, it's a better game, then play the first one for bachelor and changeling route
Because "мop" is both "a plague" and the last name of Thomas More, the author of the nove Utopia
Calling it "Plague utopia" just loses the 2deep4u meaning
Oooookay, so yeah, its a lose-lose situation.
>Utoplague?
I guess it's works only in Russia, cause Mor(e) means plague in russian also it's the name of the author of the Utopia
Just bought all the components for a new build pc, really looking forward to playing this again at more than 20fps
"Pathologic" works fine IMO.
"Pathologic 2", however, does not.
50% off on Steam right now

But Actor, it's Pathologic, too
Ooh snap
They added slight performance fixes.
What are some other games for depressing euro-surreal-horror vibes? Already played and loved Darkwood.
That would've been a better title.
Cryostasis
You Are Empty
The Great Perhaps

You Are Empty seems great, how would one go about playing it these days?
>mfw EOP
what is he saying slavbros?
There's a download link the video description.

One massive problem however is that the game just refuses to launch on some computers. I had to play it on my shitty laptop instead of my main computer because it just wouldn't launch. It's literally "a works on my machine ;)" situtation. You can check the comment section for fixes that might help but you just gotta pray that it will work on your pc.
First half talk mosty about the mistakes that young developers do when they first starting making their games, like trying to put too much philosophical meaning or putting protagonist is some dream fantasy world
Thanks user, will give it a whirl soon
discouse about why different games fail and answers questions
i dont know english on enough level to translate it better unfortunately
>Oooookay, so yeah, its a lose-lose situation.
Actually, the name Pathologic was already trying to BE a pun in itself.
Others recommended it, but I really kinda have to add to that:
Cryostasis.
As a game it kinda sucks pretty badly, plus it has two other issues: it's poorly coded and as a result runs kinda poorly on any machine, regardless of how good setup you have, and also due to legal disputes it can't be aquired legally, you have to pirate it.
But as far as story goes, I'd place it right next to Silent Hill 2, honestly. It takes quite a while to get going and it can baffle the shit out of you, but damn is there a great story hidden in there.
Also:
The Void, by the same devs as Pathologic. Absolutely fascinating, if probably the most hard and confusing game IPL has ever made.
I know this is probably a nitpicky difference, but isn't Mor more like "pestilence" than "Plague"? Like anything that kills people in large numbers, rather than necessarily the particular disease?
Again, I'm curious. I can't speak Russian, but I have a thing for etymology of some slavic words.
>Mor more like "pestilence" than "Plague"?
Yes, Mor more like pestilence
>I know this is probably a nitpicky difference, but isn't Mor more like "pestilence" than "Plague"?
It has a few meaning like мaccoвaя cмepть (mass death) and эпидeмия (epidemic)
>I read the tvtropes page
Why do you this to yourself, man?
>Yes, Mor more like pestilence
Yeah, interesting.
I'm asking because in Czech, apparently the word Mor is used as well, however, it does refer to the disease very specifically. You can't claim there is a "mor" unless you are speaking about an outbreak of bubonic plague. However, I did notice they still also have the word "hladomor" (literally, the hunger-mor, famine) which I find curious. I mean I do get the origin of the word (it's one of the oldest and most conservative word-roots, I mean it managed to find itself a way into the word "mortage"), but I did find it interesting how it managed to emancipate it's meaning in one language but preserve itself in another.
Sorry for the weird linguistic intermission. And thank you for the replies.
