I thought we learned from Homestuck that subverting expectations simply for the sake of subverting them doesn't make for good fiction. Introducing some rando and framing him/her as an antagonist by having them kill an established character and beating the ever-living shit out of the character you play as, only to reveal that you won't be hunting them down in return, you'll actually be playing as them and fighting the character you were playing as originally, is kind of shit. This is coming from someone who did not give a single shit about the first one.
