play the fucking game
Graphics extender, code patch.
Try to start with a melee skill above 30-40 and use that weapon if you don't know what you're doing.
OpenMW is much better than the vanilla engine, you should use that
agility helps you hit things
speed and dodging swings/spells/arrow is better than pilling on heavy armor
argonians and khajits can't wear boots or full-faced hats
have fun
Unstable engine. Prepare for crashes so save frequently.
You need to install Morrowind
it doesnt live up to the turbo dicksucking Yas Forums hype so make sure u have no expectations and maybe you'll enjoy it
Buckle in for a lot of jank.
Don't install mods your first time through.
some skills are useless
like you can enchant a ring or something with master unlock
You need to install this.
If you dont use mods, make sure to make at least 1 weapon skill a major.
Also make athletics a major skill or take the steed birth sign. If you don't you will absolutely hate the game. Screw efficient leveling, you will become a demigod by level 20 anyway.
you got filtered pleb
Make Alchemy your major skill to win
based
Go to Vivek and steal EVERYTHING from the vault early in the game. Don't kill Caius and save. Or do kill Caius and have a Joker-save file where the world is ruined because of you.
You should use the graphics patch if for nothing other than the increase the draw distance, I really don't know how people can play the game without that
Will probably get backlash for what used to be a commonly agreed fact, but the accuracy formula in the game is pretty shit so look it up and when creating your character choose the appropriate stats to boost to get your hit rate up, otherwise the early game will be slow and annoying. Basically just make sure to build around combat.
Make use of the transport systems, you will not run out of money
don't even need it as a major skill...
Just chug int potions
i finished morrowind before you were born i just dont jerk off over mediocre rpgs
using distant terrain mods ruins the look of the game
i've tried it once and yeah nah, i need the fog, doesn't look right to me
Don't use mods.
Don't be a faggot.
Just play the game.
If you fuck up, start over.
play it with friends
i can tell u die to mudcrabs LMAO
If you're going to melee you want a decent agi score. Keep stamina pots on you early on; when your stam is low your chance of spells failing, attacks missing etc go through the roof.
Find or enchant your own piece of speed boosting gear. As much as I love this game, the default walk speed is painful.
Have fun!
Just get the graphics extender if you don't wanna deal with bad draw distance, maybe code patch if you want it a bit more stable, and just make your build carefully. There's plenty of guides out there on how to make a good character, but don't be surprised when your character can't kill shit, it's about training and getting money for the first few in-game weeks so that you can build up your stats. Look up how the stats work too, I'll explain it in another post but basically, you'll need a bunch of money to train the best stats for your build. Also race isn't a throwaway like in Oblivion and Skyrim so pick accordingly and NEVER pick the furry races (they're shit).
This guy's right and heavy armor is meh if you're not built to be a tank
This is a hot take but if you ever wanna switch over to OpenMW it's really easy. Personally, I like playing with the vanilla engine to get the holistic experience, but that's just me.
Can't speak for the quality of this mod but I wanna smash Almalexia's chink pussy so at least get Better Almalexia (and Sotha Sil Expanded, which is a really good lore-friendly mod that adds to the Tribunal expansion a lot, just get ready for some buggy puzzles and stuff (ALSO get the mod to enhance the voices so that you don't have a redditor talking to you during the cutscenes.))
No matter if you're a mage or not, potions are always fun to play with and are good for building a good economy at the start of the game. Just be ready for a bad time if it's a minor or major skill without a mage build, those levels go FAST.
This guy probably has a million mods that don't work with each other on his 2008 Dell laptop.
just started last night and chose a build similar to my last oblivion build (mage with some stealthy shit). i got my ass handed to me by the mage in the first cave, did I fuck up with my loadout?
Wait there's multiplayer?
Levels work like this: When you level up you get one point on 3 attributes of your choosing, but you get multipliers based on what you've leveled up that has that attribute (i.e: Level up Spear, which is an endurance skill, 10 times and you'll get 5 points in Endurance instead of 1.) Best strat is to train 10 levels for your miscellaneous attributes like Endurance, Agility, and Strength (or whatever fits your build, mages have End, Int, and Will. for example). That way you can get 5 points every level, even if it's expensive as FUCK, you'll get really tough early on.
Also, I can't stress HOW important Endurance is, especially early game. It determines HP gain per level and gives big boosts to stamina, and like points out, stamina is EVERYTHING in morrowind. Level up Endurance as much as you can early game to get the best gains.
Personally, I would have gone with Unarmored instead of Light Armor for a mage, and for ANY mage, Sneak and Security don't actually matter at all since you can supplement it with Chameleon/Invisibility and Open/Telekinesis for most situations.
No, that's a mod for an engine upgrade called OpenMW. It's pretty fun with friends though, I'd recommend trying it out.
Also, since you might start over, at the beginning of the game TAKE THE LIMEWARE PLATTER AND WAREHOUSE KEY FROM THE EXCISE OFFICE. If you go into your inventory, put it in, and then put it on the ground, you can take the item back with no penalty. The limeware platter is worth a lot of money and the Warehouse can get you access to a lot of narcotics to sell early on.
Finally, since you're a mage, buy a spell that does Resist Magic 100% for a single second from a spellmaker and then do the quest for the Boots of Blinding Speed. If you cast it and then put the boots on as soon as it's done, you'll get MUCH better walking speed at no penalty. Also sell skooma and shit to Creeper in Caldera, he'll buy everything for full price.
Pretty lindy, I'd say you fucked up on using Speed based skills as major with a low Speed attribute, but you'll find your prefered playstyle as you play through the game.
When you eventually get your potion selling shillings in the mid-game, you can solicit leveling your lacking skills with trainers, that's what I did to balance out some of my characters weaknesses. Tbh just play with whatever set skills you think will work, you'll eventually figure it out, that's how I learned to play, at least.
>Personally, I would have gone with Unarmored instead of Light Armor for a mage, and for ANY mage, Sneak and Security don't actually matter at all since you can supplement it with Chameleon/Invisibility and Open/Telekinesis for most situations.
thanks for the heads up, I think I'm going to make a new character and start again. any other tips for a mage who also uses a blade? from what i understand, short blade + enchanting can break the game early on
>He mods games the first time he plays them
I usually go pure mage so I don't know that much about short blade, but DEFINITEY get conjuration as a major/minor stat. Since you're a breton you'll most likely get Bound Dagger, which gives you access to a daedric dagger as soon as you get off the boat.
and for real, look up how to get the platter and use the same strat to get the Warehouse Key that's behind Cellus Gradius, major money-maker for the start of the game. The quest with Fargoth after you go into the tradehouse and talk to the nord also makes some cash, so check that out too.
thanks for the info. i've only invested a few hours into this character so i think i'll just reroll and try not to fuck up the stats this time around
Dunno man modding Pathfinder kingmaker has enhanced my experience otherwise would've quit.
Just make long blades and heavy armor your major skill as well as whatever can heal you for cheap like alchemy or healing magic cause potions are not easy to come by.
Only use long blades. Your long blades skill number is literaly your percentage of hitting something.
ALWAYS carry stamina and health potions
Always go into fights and every other action with FULL stamina
Save a FUCKLOAD
Work on every major skill you have to level up after a rest.
You will now not rage at the game.
Footnote to that, since you ARE playing a sneaky mage, I'd also recommend leveling up your Illusion and Mysticism. Chameleon and Telekinesis are must-haves for any struggling kleptomaniac.
Mentioned this earlier but I can't emphasize enough how important getting the boots of blinding speed are. You're already playing Breton so you'll only get 50% blindness when you put them on, but casting a spell to resist 100 points of magic for 1 second makes things really easy.
This guy has the right idea, always remember to gague your interactions on Stamina. If you're sleepy as fuck you've already lost the roll. Your insomnia-induced parkinson's will make it near impossible to fight with any melee weapon, and give you a REALLY high chance of failing spells. Also, people really don't like to talk, be bribed, or be charmed by someone who just ran a marathon. Keep your stamina up for every interaction, or else retreat and reassess with a full bar of stamina.
Jump everywhere, don't bother with athletics or The Steed. Make Alteration at least a minor skill and get a jump spell (or enchant a ring with one) and you'll travel extremely quickly.
Also Alteration in general is godly. Especially Water Walking.
Just be prepared to die as you learn your limits in the very early game. Save often early on because death comes swiftly at the low levels.
Even if you make some slight missteps with a build, you ascend to godhood fairly fast in Morrowind. Once you learn the basics and get some levels almost any reasonable build will be strong.
Keep your stamina pots stocked and stamina up at all times and have fun!
