Castlevania Thread

Let's have a Castlevania thread: What's your favorite Classicvania? Igavania? Thoughts on the rest of the franchise? Got any hopes for the future?

>Classicvania

I don't like them
>Got any hopes for the future
None

>favorite Classicvania
bloodlines
>Igavania
I go back and forward between aria and portrait
> rest of the franchise
there's an alright game on the game boy but the rest is not that interesting
> any hopes
if microsoft buying konami IPs is true maybe otherwise probably not

>Thoughts on the rest of the franchise?
Wasn't there some news that Sony was gonna buy Castlevania, MGS and Silent Hill? If that doesn't happen Castlevania will just rot in the Konami dungeon.

>classic
Rondo
>Iga
Modded Dawn of Sorrow
>rest of the franchise
The conventional titles are susally good while the reboot sucked
>hope
None, Konami doesnt have the balls to do anything worthy with the ip and wont let anyone touch it.

Here is some sparks to generate some discussion though, i think the hollow knight devs could make a proper igavania, and bloodstained would be better continuing on as a classicvania since the spin-off mini-game was much better than the main game.

Is there really any credence to that rumor though, considering Konami is still milking those franchises through pachinko? There's no reason for them to just give them up.

>Classic
Bloodlines
>Iga
Aria
>Hopes
HAHAHAHAHAHA
at least both Bloodstained games were really good, shame the Iga one was so ugly but whatever

>Rondo
>SotN
>S'good
>no hopes if Konami keeps it up but the resurgence of popularity from the show is good, even if the show is a flaming turd

I have no idea of copyright laws on nippon but couldn't they sell the rights to the videogames while keeping a margin of the profits coming from the ips? Bloodborne is the closest we have to a good 3dvania. Fingers crossed

>Classicvania
Rondo
>Igavania
Aria
>Hope
I'm holding out hope that Konami plans to get back to making Castlekino again with them testing the waters with the mobage and their recent renewed interest in gaming in general.

The one thing i do want is a canon CV game, no more remakes and reboots

heard the music and narrator

I STILL HAVE FAITH DAMNIT

>Let's have [video game] thread
Wrong board

>Classicvania
I don't like them
>Igavania
Tied between Order of Ecclesia or Bloodstained.
>Got any hopes for the future
It might take 5 more years, but we will get playable Zangetsu. And don't tell me about cheat engine Zangetsu with the absolutely retarded hitboxes.

>classic
3
>igavania
harmony of dissonance
>thoughts on the rest of the franchise
I love pretty much everything until the lords of shadow games. I even enjoyed stuff like CV64 and Adventure 1 on Gameboy. Harmony of Despair was cool too.

> i think the hollow knight devs could make a proper igavania
It could work if its restrained to something that fits their abstract artstyle if that's even going to be taken account if Team Cherry works on it, a game where you play as Death would be fun and fit with that
>Wasn't there some news that Sony was gonna buy Castlevania, MGS and Silent Hill?
It was a crock of shit made up by an user on Yas Forums that was reposted by a twitter literal who, which then got back again here for some reason. As far as we know, with how Konami seemingly wants to come back to gaming, its even more bullshit

Their vidya based machines are basically just gimmicks for "fans" and not anywhere close to their most lucrative lines of machines.
They have a lot more to gain at this point from selling or more likely licensing their games. If Sony fronts the costs of developing and publishing a AAA game and they get a chunk of the dough while sitting back and doing nothing, that would pretty much be the ideal situation for them since they no longer have the infrastructure to make a game on that scale anyways.

>Konami seemingly wants to come back to gaming
I don't know if I should be glad or worried.

>classic
C3
>iga
Aria
>hopes
lmao

>Classicvania
Rondo. Love the sound, look, and Richter having just the right amount of extra stuff beyond the basic jump & whip to make him super fun. Maria is also a great variant. Bloodlines & SCIV are also very good, but I like Bloodstained Curse of the Moon quite a lot; it's CVIII but better in every respect except music.
>Iga
Never played a one. Doesn't interest me, and neither do the indies that are inspired by them.
>Future
A re-release of The Adventure ReBirth would be nice since it was only put out on Wiiware. Collect it with Contra & Gradius ReBirth, maybe even throw in Konami's weirder WW titles like Tomena Sanner & Muscle March.

You should be cautiously optimistic. They can still make good games if they don't outsource their ip's to gaijins

From a business standpoint it's fucking retarded to buy so many unnecessary IP's, mightaswell buy the one that makes the most money i.e MGS. Castlevania isn't a grand selling franchise, it only sold somewhat well when it literally stopped being Castlevania as LoS

Is Curse of Darkness actually any good?

I like it, its actually very fun with all the differrent shit you can do with your summons and Hector is a chad

bump

Dip shit

>zoomer games
>Fuck smash bros fandom

Lords of Shadow was top tier

Trips wasted on such a low quality post

>Castlevania
>Zoomer games
The franchise is atleast 2 decades old

Sony desperately needs more exclusives and franchises, Castlevania has a history with Playstation and makes perfect sense to pick up, especially when the franchise has so much unrealized potential.

Imagine them getting From to do a Castlevania reboot, it'd sell like hotcakes.

>Classicvania?
3
>Igavania?
Portrait of Ruin
>Hopes?
None whatsoever

>Sony desperately needs more exclusives and franchises
They don't, they have a ton of IP's which can they can pull from, besides in the end of the day they usually get the most third parties anyways.
>Castlevania has a history with Playstation
It doesn't, only Sotn was well known for being on PSX, the only other playstation Castlevanias are LoI and CoD. The entire franchise is a Nintendo franchise primarily
>Imagine them getting From to do a Castlevania reboot
You know damn well it would be pozzed and unrecognizable gameplay and design wise to Castlevanias of old
> it'd sell like hotcakes.
That's undeniable considering LoS sold well even though it might aswell be a different franchise since it barely resembles the game series only in superficial references, doesn't meant it will be good
