So what we thinking of Gears meets XCOM?
So what we thinking of Gears meets XCOM?
Gameplay is great. No base building kinda kills the replayability.
gib crack
nigga it's two dollars through gamepass.
>nigpass
fuck off jew
>pay two dollars
>cancel sub
yeah real jewish
It's very diverse and progressive. Good stuff.
Base building didn't add jackshit replayability to nu-XCOM.
this
Base building was more of an annoyance than it was fun.
less diverse than new xcomm
God tier core mechanics. Implementation could be better.
This, the multiple action points, the way to constantly refresh your action points with skills, Overwatch being an aggressive tool instead of just defensive makes XCOM feels real fucking sluggish by comparison.
same thoughts. game feels more meaty (in terms of presentation) and polished.
as a first entry it's good.
sucks that there's no custom battle.
side missions are kinda samey, but that goes with the territory
Strategy layer adds to the "just one more turn" loop. You wanna do just one more battle to progress toward your research and when it's done you want to do one more battle to test your new toys.
GT sort of achieves this with the gear system. You want to do missions for the Epic/Lego loot.
I've done 2 missions. Is there just no environmental sounds? Really jarring.
Restart the game, it has these few occasional superficial bugs that you can never replicate. Pic related, Mikayla's bodel spider-webbed throughout the entire cutscene. Restarted and it went away, never to be seen again in any cutscene. Another time, the Locust Snipers had no roar audio which went away on restart too.
>weapons accuracy falls of fast with distance
>if you get too close you are going to get shot -> shot -> overwatch
Gameplay is tedious mowing down hordes
Characters are teenage wish fulfillment angsty homoerotic hunks, gratuitous pottymouth
It's not actually like XCOM, you don't have to be careful since your guys have regenerating health
World design is ugly and mindnumbing, the story is insipid
Loot crates
Overall worth $1
Kek. I love it when games have a stroke like this.
>you don't have to be careful since your guys have regenerating health
They don't, you're confusing the passive Command ability from the Support class with overall regen health. Please read the skills of your classes before making dumb assumptions.
>playing games for the story
>Loot crates
what's the problem with this?
Reminds me of Dawn of War 2, where you did side missions against the clock to get that sweet Terminator armor.
>Win10 only
Fuck you Microsoft
>Loot Crates
That you can't buy. That appear as loot in the game which you collect.
>No base building
Good
Who whole game definitely has this "XBoxy" vibe to it. The very first thing that popped up after the developer logos was a notification that some kind of football player DLC was unlocked. About an hour into playing it I got a popup asking me to rate the game on the app store.
yeah, the heavies have a big avitus feels
ofc it's not real time but still
They force feed it to you, it's not like there is an open arcade mode.
>Escape
>Press [ESC] again to skip
its honestly pretty good
no meta campaign map gameplay is a bit of a letdown
feels a bit dry otherwise, but then again i'm not a gears person
still very enjoyable, worth the 1dollar
No I'm talking about the passive ability which is literally just regenerate 10% of your HP every turn.
Combine that with the other ability with is a lifesteal shot, your dudes regenerate a lot of health as you fight.
>see e-hole appear
>try to run up and plant a grenade on it before it opens but run out of AP with no cover
>it opens next turn
>instantly die
10/10
It's a shame you can't select voices for your characters, because the way this guy says "eliminated" as he mows fuckers down is pure ASMR.
Scout's sticky grenade. Throw it before it opens.
Only thing they are useful for with that shtty shotgun.
no carmine no buy
>No I'm talking about the passive ability which is literally just regenerate 10% of your HP every turn.
Not a thing, I'm literally playing the game on the "recommended" difficulty which is Normal and this doesn't exist as a general passive. The only thing that matches what you're talking about is the Support Command ability. Missions where I'm limited to 1-2 characters require a Medic because they do not regen health otherwise.
Commando tree for Scouts.
It's not a real Gears game, it's missing active reload, lag, and host advantage
The other annoying thing about the evac holes, you absolutly need to remember to save a grenade on them immediatly after they open, but grenades are on a long cooldown. If you can't grenade the whole right away, it will keep spawning 2-3 more dudes every turn which is insurmountable. So it's a "grenade this now or restart the mission" mechanic, very annoying.
There are skills that regenerate health, but it's not a normal mechanic everybody has by default.
Vanguards have a regen passive. Sid has it by default.
throwing and planting have a separate cd
also playing on normal difficulty
>weapons and characters customization are visible in the cutscene
some soldier regen health sure
its still easier because you don't get to put your soldiers in the medbay for weeks because they got hit once
this, huge plus along with executions varying with whatever weapon you have equipped. its the little details that surprise the most. I thought this would have been just a lazy ass reskin like Phoenix Point was
>Vanguard
You said everybody has regen by default. This isn't true. Vanguards are the taunter/disruptor/berserker/alt. healer class, the regen is core to the kit.
The only other class that gets passive regen for themselves is the Heavy, and it's a skill you have to unlock, and they have to be anchored.
who else playing on /insane/
Heroes can't die, right?
And who cares about the redshirts, it's better to dismiss them and recruit new ones since you can barely level them up since no room for them on missions.
I did for most of the first act, then I got filtered during that one mission where the Boomer gets introduced. Now I'm on intermediate :^)
No Scouts or Heavies in the hero roster. Side missions lock off characters after completion, and are not available on the second side mission.
Also sometimes recruits come with really shitty perk choices.
