Is it worth a playthrough?
Is it worth a playthrough?
no
for me it was no
I played it the year it released, and looking back I'm gonna have to go with no unless it is your 1st ff7 video game or media, then yes. I played this 1st before ff7 because back in the day a copy of ff7 was hundreds of dollars since it was out of print.
Yes. It’s fine and short. The dmv interrupting battles is annoying at the start but you get used to it.
You can finish it in like 16 hours. Give it a go for the lore.
The Gackt Loveless shit almost makes the game unbearable at times but I still like it for some reason.
Yes. It's short and has a nice soundtrack. Also helps flesh out FF7's story in an MGS3 sort of way. Just don't bother with side missions.
yes, just set up a hotkey for frameskip cause the dmw mechanic sucks
Also try not to die. You can’t skip cutscenes.
This, OG FF7, Advent Children are all worth if you want the most out of the newest games. Even Dirge of Cerberus is probably worth a playthrough before Vincent shows up next game.
Honestly no, unless you want VII tainted.
>unless you want VII tainted
Its already been tainted, someone dropped a turd in that punch bowl almost 20 years ago.
Yes. Great soundtrack, a short but well-tied story with cool cutscenes and a character that's actually fun to play as. The combat can feel weird at first you once you get the hang of it, it's pretty fun. I kinda like the DMW system as well, though watching some cutscenes 100 times does get old toward the end of the game. Just keep in mind, level-ups are not RNG despite looking that way, and Materia Fusion is the most broken readily available thing in the game.
The gameplay is ass, the content sucks, the plot is terrible.
Zack is great unless you already played FF7 and realize his characterization is way off.
Only if you really liked the original FF7.
Crisis Core excels at fanservice and beautifully recreates some of the locations of the original.
It also had some great music.
However, IMHO it is not a good game.
The DMW system is absolutely broken, and the combat has much less freedom of improvisation than the original FF7.
The story is uneven most of the time.
Aerith is a completely different character than the one she was in the original FF7.
All of the goddess stuff, Genesis and his degeneracy isn't that well written, nor does it tied that well within the canon which the original FF7 had created.
Also, the side quests are absolutely terrible.
No, it's fucking terrible.
This. One of those games where just watching it online is better than playing it.
The entirety of the FFVII compilation can and should be ignored.
>Zack is great unless you already played FF7 and realize his characterization is way off.
this desu, CC unironically ruined the FFVII character of Zack.
too bad the remake is taking heavily from it
>the remake is taking heavily from it
The Remake is part of it, It's included in compilation can and should be ignored
Yes but only if you hate Genesis all the way.
>assuming the og Zack had any personality in FF7
You only see him in a flashback for 2 minutes
>we cut out [DEVELOPER NAME EXCISED] because of quality concerns :^)
Meanwhile Cyberconnect says that Square's management was absolutely horrendous and they ditched the project because it was actually hurting them financially. Considering the best parts of the remake are things that are near identical to Cyberconnect's build and the stuff handled by other devs looks like hot dogshit, I think it's safe to assume CC2's story is more accurate.
He's "Cloud" in the Kalm flashback and Cloud'spersons for half the game is based on Zack. Crisis Core Zack is more akin to the real Cloud, which is bizarre.
I see no sauce to go with this claim. For all I know, CC2 was the one being behind on schedule.
>"However, because we wanted to upkeep the quality of the Final Fantasy series, we decided that we still needed members who had experience working on Final Fantasy."
KEK
Square's stance on why it happened changed multiple times. We have footage from the Cyberconnect days and a lot of the bombing mission has near identical animations and locations. The gameplay is also nearly the same. The biggest change is the character models, lighting/particle effects, and the addition of triangle actions.
you talking about advent children?
What little personality we see from VII Zack is better than what CC unfortunately turned him into.
Yes and Gackt is the best part of this shitshow.
Fair enough. But to be honest, we saw too little of what CC2 had. I also love how everyone forgets that the Scorpion fights was changed to happen on the train in CC2.
But to be honest, from what little we saw, only lighting in some place looked better (the station reteaining his yellowish color). Gameplay felt the same, maybe a bit faster and more hack and slash.
>I also love how everyone forgets that the Scorpion fights was changed to happen on the train in CC2
My bad. Checked the trailer, and I just misinterpreted the landing transation. On a side note that Barret was way too tiny.
