fuck hitscan

Why make things unnecessarily complicated? Hitscan.

Gravity? Who gives a crap about gravity?

>Why make the game take any sort of skill? Babby mode.

whatever cs 1.6 is

Halo 2 had hitscan for some weapons like the sniper rifle. You could pull the trigger and swipe your reticle across an enemy and it counts as a hit.

No drop projectiles and +drop projectiles go hand in hand. It allows for additional balancing and variety when you have both in a game. Hitscan lasers can also exist within that meta.

If you're talking about which the game should be primarily focused and balanced around; then projectile+gravity with proper arcing, not the projectile coming out straight for several seconds before gravity kicks in. In a game like R6S if weapons weren't hitscan but had arcing projectiles then you wouldn't have nearly as much pixel peeking.

projectile + gravity is the most satisfying combination of skill + dumb luck

>not having all 3
shit game

Depends.
>Has all three?
Then almost always hitscan. You'd be gimping yourself by picking one of the projectile options unless they're a AOE damage weapon
>Is it multiplayer?
Then hitscan. Shit is chaotic enough without having to lead shots while faggots are bunny jumping and juking like a madman. Not to mention that hitting players can be bad enough as it is bad ping or host-based match systems even when using hitscan
>Is it singleplayer?
Then projectile, with or without the gravity. Could be fun to actually use skills that take TTT and arcs into account

>projectile + gravity is the most satisfying
Or it would be if gravity was not 10x earth standard for the bullets. Drop is only interesting when it is at ranges where it should actually apply.

hitscan is trash in multiplayer for matches larger than 10v10

Gravity is for people who want to rp as a stolen valor sniper on battlefield 5

Projectile if it's done right. Halo 3 being the worst with the ridiculous slow bullet speed

with large maps
if every engagement is short range hitscan isn't too bad
if you have hitscan with 100m+ maps it just becomes way too easy to snipe targets if you can instantly hit them from 200m out for example

Good point. Multiplayer games with large maps would also be ass with hitscan

arma 3 master race

What is Arma 3? I know that their rifles have a fall-off, but that doesn't necessarily meant that they're projectiles, right?

it doesn't matter to me

never played much multi player games but I wonder what kind of system the games that I did like used to have

Why even make the player aim? Just press a button and make every enemy on screen die instantly. Hell don't even make the player press a button. Don't even have enemies. Don't even have a game. Simple.

>"projectile better it's more realistic and skill!"
>all the maps are small
>bullet speed and drop are super exaggerated so it's noticeable on small map
I cringe when a game makes me lead my shots from 50ft.

Proyectile + Gravity where rangefinding scopes actually work

I obviously meant TF2 pipe bombs and other such arcade weapons

hitscan + gravity

this
projectile with drop is fine if the drop isn't like I'm firing my gun from the event horizon of a black hole. Tarkov is really good with this

Hitscan is the ultimate chad answer.

>inb4 zoomers that have never played a proper game of instagib

large maps?
projectile + gravity
any other map
Projectile
don't hate hitscan though

I like projectile when the projectiles' hurtbox are actually the same approximate size. There's nothing more cringe than someone who thinks their aim is somehow better for using projectile based weapons, when the game interprets the hurtbox as a fucking freight train, and you get the added advantage of the hurtbox travelling through space (= more time for what would be a hitscan miss to actually connect).

Projectile plus gravity is the undisputed GOAT, but only if it has a degree of realism and doesn't have exaggerated bullet drop and reduced speed. I want silenced weapons to have slower rounds. I want realistic physics. Unless it's a MilSim then I don't want wind though, unless it's a game like Sniper Elite or something.

I don't know how accurate it is to real life, but I love WarThunder solely because of how real the vehicles and shells feel. Different ammunition types work just like they do in real life, with different rates of speed for different vehicles and rounds. I love that a tank destroyer has different trajectories than something like the Brummbar which is like a howitzer. I'm shilling, but still, I love the semi-realism of WartThunder

Projectile + gravity for fuckhuge AOE explosions.

>you instantly win the exchange if you click once on the enemy
I won't deny the skill involved in instagib but it's shallow as fuck, dude.
