I once wrote an entire rewrite of Fire Emblem Awakening in an attempt to take all its disparate paralogues, the children side stories, and other things and weave it all into a coherent narrative.
It took me five months and clocked in at several hundred thousand words. I think by the end of it I'd killed seven of the characters:

The original AC is Tortimer training a young human to eventually hold a position of power later in life (like the mayor of a town in New Leaf). The heavy service based chores and training are specifically to instill good morals within the future leaders.

Going from World of WarCraft vanilla to BC Blizzard opened up the rank 13 and 14 equipment for people to purchase with easily obtained Honor currency. The day before the pre-patch, on my server I led a raid on Ogrimmar, killing Thrall. This had never happened before and Magni had remained untouched the entire run of vanilla. Events on my server gave the impression the Horde and Alliance had opened up the weapons cache and we were all gearing for war in response... only to have the Burning Crusade blunder in through the portal and instead of finding a Horde and Alliance unprepared for war, got steamrolled by the weapons we'd intended for one another.
