FFXV world being empty an devoid of shit to do really feels down. There is also the fact that there is no real proper fucking town/city and Lestallum is something else.

Lestallum looks like it has at most 1000 people living there, but by the end of the game all of the Lucis continent residents have moved there apparently. I really wish Tabata shut his fucking mouth when he said we should double the size of the map because the devs really needed to polish the world to make it coherent. Leavine one region for the next is so fucking jarring due to how the world is shortened/made because there's no real transition. There's also the fact that you have wild giant fucking animals bigger than cards wandering around and look like the type to fuck up your gas station/customers/hotels with no real defense around them.

turn based is fucking boring though.

Final Fantasy, regardless of combat system, has never and will never be good because of sheer incompetence. The games are blatantly unbalanced and mechanically devoid, relying entirely on the obtuse gameplay loop that either consists of the worst strategy "turn-based" gameplay you've ever experienced, or the newer pseudo-action that bridges the gap between dog shit and cat shit. You can't cure stupid, and Square is and has been rife with it since the beginning, starting with Sakaguchi, who himself is a loser with zero talent, as evidenced by his entire career including present day. Square has contributed nothing but the watering down of an industry by proving that cutscenes, linear cutscenes absent of all player input, sell more than raw gameplay and the RPG experience. They have, in partnership with Enix, successfully homogenized and monopolized an entire subgenre and absorbed, killed, and repurposed more development teams and IPs than EA, and now they seek to sell their own, homegrown garbage for triple the otherwise industry standard. Plus tip. Don't be a market analytic to their corporate algorithm. Don't be that faggot who hates Vaan because he's fujobait, but loves him with a shirt, it's why they gave him a shirt. A fictional character was added to pander to a specific market, and his shirt later added to pander to a different market. What the fuck else can be said to convince Yas Forums- No. (You). Why does squareenix not know how to make a modern FF game with good combat? FF7R is atleast a step in a good direction but needs to be tuned to end up being great.

The story still feels uncomfortably disjointed and incomplete. It's a shame, there's a lot of interesting ideas but none are utilized effectively.

Yeah, but it kinda feels like it might ruin the narrative, what little there is anyway.
Like it'd be weird to see what looks to be a fully grown man bitching and whining like Noctis does, and the major plot behind his character is that he is essentially still a kid, having been unwittingly pampered by his father who was just trying to give him the best life he could instead of otherwise obtusely trying to prepare him for self-sacrifice.
The beard and general older look is obviously to reflect Regis, and if you introduce that early on when the character resembles a big gay faggot, potentially aesthetically and internally, it would throw away a lot of the impact.
That's my opinion, anyway.
It's not like he looks awful pre-skip anyway, he looks almost exactly like you'd expect him to sound, which he does.

I always thought they should have leaned into action wholesale and just actually balanced the enemies. I know calling KH's combat a meme is fun, but there were strategies and skill in the boss fights that should easily translate to another series. FF7R fill-up-action-bar -> full-pause-to-menu-scroll is a fine compromise. Just work the numbers and playtest the thing.
My problem with FF is that the numbers always end up bloated into the stratosphere. I want the difference between doing 5 and 8 damage per attack to mean something.
