Kek, keep lurking, bro.
The only reason to upgrade RAM is if you don't meet the requirements for games, or if you want to have multiple programs open.
Image made me laught. Have a free (you)
That's exactly what gaming is for normalfags, and no, they won't lurk, they'll just subvert the board culture slowly by bringing in more retarded normalfags until the original anons are such a tiny minority they have no say on anything anymore.
>wasting your moneymaking and socializing time on digital toys
No sir, you seem to be the poorest of dogs.
Ram speed is more important than ram size nowadays. 16 gigs of ram is perfect for gaming. If you stream/program/do engineering work, then sure get 32/64 gigs. If you just game, 16 gigs of fast ram, and a graphics card with high vram is all you need.
This. Normies made gaming the new "buy it, don't ask questions".
900p 60fps works just fine with 16gt.
>normies
fuck off newfag
Still on 8 GB. But thats mainly because I am still on 7 so my OS doesn't actually eat up more than 1 GB of it.
>900p in 2020
>60fps in 2020
Mate, if you're fine with shit like that, just become a console peasant. Pc is an enthusiasts experience. Get at least 1440p with a 100hz monitor.
still using 8GB of ram, I'll upgrade when the ram producers stop trying to scam me with price fixing and artificial price hikes. no, I do not for a second believe that the price per GB should be the same now as it was 15 years ago.
This stopped happening in early 2019. Prices halved, but now are back up a bit again due to pandemic.
>they'll just subvert the board culture slowly by bringing in more retarded normalfags until the original anons are such a tiny minority they have no say on anything anymore.
this already happened 5 times over, it happens every other year. there was a time where games like assassin's creed, god of war, final fantasy 7, halo, etc. were shat on relentlessly here. any type of discussion even secondarily similar to what gets discussed on /vg/ would get you sagebombed.
Without people like him you wouldn't even have any PC ports to play you idiot.
bruh 32GB of ram is $102 dollars here
>Pc is an enthusiasts experience
No, you faggot, PC is whatever you want it to be, that's the whole fucking point of it. Fucking elitist retards like you should hang.
I bought a used Dell prebuilt last year and the only thing that I regret about it is that it only has two ram slots, currently filled with two 8GB sticks. If I wanted to ever upgrade the ram further, I'd be forced to ditch the 8GB sticks for brand new 16GB sticks (or beyond).
You've lost your window user
>pc isn't an enthusiast hobby
>building your own system isn't enthusiast
Fuck off cunt, no one wants to play on 900p 60fps.
Sure feels nice being able to run entire games from RAM while having several browser windows and tabs open while running PHP-based WebDAV media server.
PC is an enthusiasts experience, normies don't use PC's anymore. normies use laptops, phones, and tablets. I literally cannot remember the last time I have seen a normie use a PC, the closest I have seen is my nephew using a laptop hooked up to a monitor.
If you didn't upgrade with new gaming systems in that order of RAM quantity you are a moron. The same fags without 32gb RAM are the ones without NVMe drives.
60 fps is fine for most and you will get used to 900 pretty quick. Most people see 1080p as the very best but thats because they havent conditioned themselves to 4k yet.
Thank fucking God that's over.
I might pick up a 32gb kit sometime in the near future, can kill two birds with one stone and give my brother my 16gb kit, he needs it more than I do.
It's worth it, 32gb will probably get old and stop working before this capacity becomes too little
>NVMe drives
big meme
I still think 4k isn't viable yet. But I prefer frames over resolution. I feel like I'm one of the few people that actually owns a 240hz monitor.
8GB of ram is pushing it now days. You at least need 16GB ram. 32gb master race!!
t. 5400RPM spinner
there is literally no difference between 1080p and 4k unless you have a VERY expensive computer monitor.
Is there any FPS difference between NVMe and SSD?
Even on 24 inch monitor there is difference. You can just try it with DSR. Or you really mean that you couldn't tell the difference?
Has there even been a game that loads more than the 6Gbps limit of SATA SSDs?
It sure feels nice having a thousand tabs open in a browser and playing a game while edging for hours to blu ray porn rips across multiple screens with no lag.
That 10% improvement in winzip isn't worth it.
>storage format affecting framerate
I did exactly this last year, finally upgraded my 4790k/mobo (gave it to my brother) and needed DDR4 memory, I don't think it's very smart to buy 2x8gb for a new build with prices so low right now...
Depends on the game. NVMe has much faster random read speeds due to using a direct PCIe connection instead of decades old SATA which still operates on LBA. Games that use streaming textures where things load on-demand might benefit from faster disk speeds but most games load everything into RAM and in that case there's nothing to be gained aside from maybe a few seconds off startup.
32GB is comfy for when you want to fire up a VM
am I a fucking car enthusiast if I pick which accessories it comes with
If you build and repair it by yourself yes.
In certain games in can impact performance but it's mostly about load times and the smaller size being better for certain builds. If you mod a lot and play around with engines/development it can regularly smooth out performance hitches and make them non existent depending on what you do.
It does but only in a few games. See .
what's considered fast ram though?
this. even for poorfags pc is the best option
>not paying pajeet 20bux to assemble it and do cable management
?
DDR4 2666 is generally considered the minimum.
3200 mhz is considered optimal
Funnily enough I constantly spend my days with Unity, Visual Studio, Photoshop, Blender and Firefox all open at the same time, with 8gb of slow as fuck no-brand RAM, and I still never really run into any major issues.
What are people even doing on their computers that they need so much fucking RAM?
>What are people even doing on their computers that they need so much fucking RAM?
porn and shit posting across multiple dimensions
Nah man if you aren't running at least 300FPS in 20K resolution your a poorfag.
On paper NVMe is far superior, but in a real gaming scenario, how many games are there where you would actually see a benefit over SATA?
Oh right, so you're just a faggot then.
3200mhz or higher
I was fine with 8gb in every game I played except COD Warzone. I would get constant stutters until I upgraded to 16gb of ram and now the stutter is non-existent. The game uses 10GB of RAM.
I agree, 16gb should be minimum if you're building a gaming pc now that ram isn't that expensive (ignoring increases due to virus). And next-gen consoles have 16gb of ram.
I've seen people who have 100 tabs open regularly on browser. Fucking idiots I swear.
Personally using 16 but those images look the same
Why do you need that much RAM for WoW and Gaia Online? Surly old console ports don't need that much support
Some games have actually started to use over 8gb, I'd constantly get stuttering with COD Warzone with 8gb until I upgraded. Most game still only use less than 8gb, ever since upgrading I rarely use more than 9gb of ram.
That's the point
why in the fuck would I waste my time doing it if an hour of my time is worth 30bux if you ask my employer
For games I play zero. In fact I have my games on 6 7200RPM SAS drives in RAID-5 and I've never noticed any slowdown in games.
If the next gen consoles got 16gb of ram, we clearly need 32 now. Cause console ports are always shit and you will always be multi tasking something else while playing.
Theres more to life than just working for them.
Guys I need some advice for building a pc. I have the basic stuff I need on the list but help me fill in the rest for compatibility. pcpartpicker.com
