This must be the most overrated game i've ever played

Jesus, what a piece of boring and souless trash.

Not enough bang bang kaboom for your tastes?

Be careful the way you speak of the game that was my favorite whatever year it came out it was

>playing the worst version
no wonder you hated it

you played the worst one
I miss when DQ was about figuring out where to go by yourself and attempting to go through a dungeon that would deplete your resources
Its just so easy and dumb now even on draconian, the gameplay mechanics of all dont work as they now cater to casuals with free mp recover on level up and free camping sites all over the useless map
I know this is a controversial take but DQ11 made me drop the series, I didnt feel that way about it when I beat it but then I realize how much was lost and how much I didnt care anymore
Shame

This.
Long time dragon quest fan here, i'm so sad that new fans praise 11, the old games are miles better.

It has a lot of content and some fun boss fights but exploration has completely died the game now showing you where to go at all times
Remember when you had to talk to NPCs and figure out where to go by yourself and youd even find random dungeons that youd explore and later realize they are part of the story? I loved that and now its gone
And why are Inns in the game if you can rest for free in a camp?
The mechanics are at odds with themselves, DQ used to be ultra polished and youd never left feeling it had sloppy elements like that
And the dungeons themselves? We can now avoid every single encounter in it, at least 9 while still having visible encounters on the field made monsters very hard to avoid, in 11 they are all catatonic

Part 1 was kino but part 2 is proving to be a serious drag.

I liked it more than I, II, VII, VIII, IV, IX, and VI. Mind you I like them all, but I personally found more enjoyment with it. V, III, XI, VII, and VIII are my favorite in the series.

Best dragon quest
Niggers will @ me

>you can rest for free in a camp?
I fucking hate this. You can powerlevel near a camp for free with no repercussion. And the monsters being out in the field also kills any sense of impending danger and makes the game way easier, even with Draconian Quest. Not that I'm advocating for the return of random battles but the game could've been designed and balanced better.

My first and only DQ game and I really enjoyed it. It came at the right time for me when my itch for a very traditional and cliche jrpg needed scratching.

>Souless
Now I know you are shitposting

All draconian does is make you die to bosses crits more often, it does not change how the game plays at all or make you use more strategy, you can still set the AI and lelt the game play itself for most of it if you wanted.

>believing weebs when they tell you a JRPG is good

You know what a JRPG plays like. You know why weebs play them. You have only yourself to blame for falling for their bullshit.

Just be happy the series is consistently pretty good, even if each game has its own fans (namely III, V, and VIIIfags).

This has been in my backlog for a while but I still haven't gotten around to playing it

That would be Divinity: Original Sin. Souless with braindead gameplay.

SOUL

DQXI is shit.

...

Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are cut from the same cloth these days... They're both corporate products rather than works of passion, and both are a shadow of their former self.

The big offender is the campsites. but I think the series lost something in the translation to 3d. 8 and 11 don't feel like nearly as grand of adventures as 5 and 6 do

5 is the most linear game in the series.

I never mentioned linearity

>overrated
This word means nothing. You just literally just mean "I didn't like it"

Part 2 is considered to start after you turn into a fish and go back to cobblestone right?
because if so, yeah I agree. It's boring as fuck and I haven't even touched the game in weeks. Don't feel like what I assume to be gathering the team together one person at a time all over again

When I see people say this or octopath are the JRPGs of the decade I want to cringe.

If you think part 2 is bad wait until part 3.

Part 2 is good it's part 3 that is boring, lucky you can skip most of the boring shit and just kill the final boss.

I don't know if I'm gonna continue desu

gimme the jist

>I know this is a controversial take

It's a pretty fun game with standard JRPG mechanics and a fuck ton of content. Maybe you just don't like jrpgs.
The only bad thing about the game is the music.
