Marketing material shouldn't be able to present idealised footage as the actual game without flagging it up before release - If puddle reflections weren't important in some respect, they wouldn't have put them in their trailer in the first place. Games change during development, especially as technological limitations come to bare but it's an open secret at this point that it's essentially used to slip false marketing out there with plausible deniability. It often goes far passed the point of reasonable. A notable example of this would be the darkness nerf in Dark Souls 2 - a touted graphical feature that recieved a lot of focuses, that changes the way the game is played, quietly made a non-issue in the end product.

I prefer vanilla as well, but something different like the kung fu mod really adds another dimension to the game after I've already played through it a million times.

I have no idea how anybody enjoyed far cry 2, returning to it a year ago after years of not playing it, I found it horrendous.

I found it horrendous the month it launched. It looked cool for the time though, and the fire effects were neat. Doesn't excuse shit gameplay though.
