it just seems like generic jap shit to me why do people like it?
Can someone explain to me the appeal of Final Fantasy?
they grew up with it. fortnite looks like generic shit to me but apparently kids love it
i dunno i just think it's fun lol
>generic jap shit
It's literally based on European shit, retard. As all D&D based stuff is like the majority of RPGs.
i like crystals and the armor design is funny and shit
Its fun
i didnt grow up with it and i like it.
4-9 have really good world-building, like literally the best in the business.
They usually have fun character-based mechanics.
They also make good use of their battle system; even though it seems like slow turn-based combat you often have to think several moves ahead; react really fucking quickly or change what you're doing to pull out a win.
Battles like Atomos, Yunalesca, Tantarian and the superbosses are all the evidence you need that turn-based is in no way outdated and is a high-IQ activity.
The aesthetic changes every game so it can't be "generic", but it is Jap shit. Good Jap shit. Just don't even look at anything after 10.
if you don't like or have played jrpgs you will never understand, from a gameplay perspective only it's quite simple, level up, get new skills, explore and find treasure, get stronger, fight bosses and enemies utilizing your current builds and set ups, but then there's other things like story and characters you can potentially get attached too but not guaranteed because that's based on each persons experience with it. If you want to get into them I suggest not ever grinding and just fighting what comes along your path since grinding will trivialize bosses.
>4-9 have really good world-building, like literally the best in the business.
objectively wrong
That's objectively your opinion.
The influence of D&D in the gaming world is just insane
>you often have to think several moves ahead; react really fucking quickly or change what you're doing to pull out a win
horseshit. FF was always an easy series. FF6/7 are some of the easiest JRPGs ever made
>generic jap shit
90% of the games have no hint of weeb in them
I didn't say it wasn't easy. What's your problem?
Some battles may take you a couple of tries because of caveats like in 8 and 10 where a few bosses can wipe your whole team if you don't have someone zombified; or that tower in 6 where the boss series has magic jamming; or bosses like 5's Omega who can bounce powerful magic off his own Reflect.
because people like generic jap shit
>he's never fought a superboss without a guide
do you play Sekiro with the slowdown mod too?
>90% of the games have no hint of weeb in them
FF 4 to 10 were pretty consistent games with the exception of 8 but even then that had some highlights
can someone explain to me the appeal of Dark Souls?
it just seems like generic jap shit to me why do people like it?
>UHHH IT'S CLEARLY BASED ON WESTERN MYTHOS AND HISTORY
>UHHH IT'S CLEARLY BASED
>>UHHH IT'S CLEARLY BASED ON WEEB SHIT FROM A JAP COMPANY. IT'S TIME TO NUKE THE SLANTY EYED PEOPLE AGAIN
None of them are that good, but fat dudes in their 30's love them because of muh nostalgia
this but unironically
Based and Steinerpilled
The narratives and characters are likable in most of the games, and in some cases the worlds or fantasy elements are pretty/interesting. Dragon Quest is a better example of generic jap shit though, and is arguably a better franchise.
Not him but very few FF superbosses are actually hard, there exist a few FF romhacks that are quite challenging, though. Take the FF5 romhack Void Divergence, for instance. That thing with Challenge set to 1 and core rules to "Expert" is seriously no joke. Too bad square decided to ditch the whole job system in later games instead of refining it.
>it just seems like generic jap shit to me
It's generic the same way LOTR and core D&D worldbuilding is generic -- Everyone else is basing their stuff on it. For FF, most other JRPGs are drawing from FF and DQ. Early FF is very heavily inspired by D&D, but at a time where it was new in vidya. They developed a lot of stuff of their own that other people copied later so now they seem derivative even where they were the pioneers.
>generic jap shit
Once Square decided to make the newer FF games in 3D and ditch turn-based combat, everything went downhill, so this "generic jap shit"-stuff only really applies to these newer games. The classic games, even if some were quite lackluster, had a unique charm to it.
If you want a fleshed out Final Fantasy experience, I recommend checking out the romhack "T-Edition" for FF6. As the hack's in Japanese, you may want to obtain a translation patch, unless you know Japanese.
>it just seems like generic jap shit to me
Are you fucking retarded?
>he didnt play FFV
lmaoing at your life
