God this would've been fucking cool if they actually expanded on this, maybe tied it in to the maverick virus in X or something where Mega Man just starts doing shit blatantly against his programming. These games get so close to actually interesting scifi/robotics tropes like 'what is consciousness' and 'what is free will' and then blows it all on cheap anime drama or goofy shit.

what if it's like a robot with a really good ability but that has a hidden self destructive function? let's say he builds a robot that can fly, and megaman sees him flying not very far from the ground, then he gets it's power, but it's secretly programmed to stop working when you're flying high enough that a fall would be fatal
