Shogun 2 and Medieval 2 are masterpieces.
Rome 2 sucked ass, though I only played it from day 1 for about a week.
Warhammer games seemed too cringe for me to buy/play.

attila is better in exectuion to rome 2 in pretty much every way but due to the overarching systems they created for that game and the time period its far more boring to play, in part to the different ethos of balancing as opposed to expanding

shogun 2 is peak total war

you can complain about the limited roster but the core combat has never felt better

they really fucking nailed unit movement speed and the rate at which units lose morale and die

every other total war feels like a fucking slog; units move so fucking slow and once they meet they just fucking hack away at each other for hours and never fucking die

It's true. Warhammer distracts people with all it's different factions, but when the novelty wears off all you're left with is bad mechanics. Shogun 2 gives you all the units you can use for everyplaythrough, so if you get bored with your army comp you can switch to something completely different mid campaign without having to start over.

I disagree, Shogun 2's biggest how is how absurdly fast everything is. In full stack battles it should take twenty minutes after the armies meet to maneuver and fight, in Shogun 2 it's more like five.
