Why did Nintendo drop the RPG structure for Paper Mario games?

Why did Nintendo drop the RPG structure for Paper Mario games?

Because they're fucking retarded. Paper Mario is dead and its completely their own damn fault

Prank gone wrong

Allegedly because they already had M&L as a Mario RPG series even though they play way differently

Miyamoto is a retarded platformtard

and even those are shit now, its all Miyamoto fault

>Allegedly because they already had M&L as a Mario RPG series
OH NO NO NO

It still hurts.

Nah, fuck 'em.
>Dream Team was really mediocre
>Same goes for Paper Jam with the godawful nu-Paper Mario
>SSS remake was unironically soulless
>BiS remake was the stupidest business move I've ever seen, because you could still just play OG BiS on the 3DS
Maybe Nintendo will give the M&L series to a more competent company.

Because it was never good and only loved by “intellectuals” who hated the normal Bing Bing Wahoo formulas for “le big brained wahoo with hammer”

Considering Alphadream went bankrupt I'd speculate they didn't want Paper Mario eating into Mario & Luigi's audience when they were both on the same system(3DS) and CS was a sensible followup to Sticker Star.

They probably didn't want two Mario RPGs on the same system and the 1st party PM was probably the safest one to experiment.

They only dropped it for Super Paper Mario.
Sticker Star and Colour Splash both have the RPG structure, it's just a really, really watered down and shitty version of it that's missing almost every element that makes said system actually work. The devs tried to claim that those games don't have the RPG structure to dodge criticism.

i dont think you know what an rpg is

Too retarded to live I assume

I bet he knows more than you. There's more than one kind of RPG structure.

And I bet I know more than you. full cycle

I'm not the one who thinks an RPG is just one thing.

You literally just made that up yourself though. I never said RPGs were just one thing. SS and Cs being turn based doesn't make them RPGs.

>play sticker star expecting a paper mario rpg on the 3ds
>it's an abortion of an idea
>the crown partner is a cunt
>the final level takes 5 minutes to get through
>nintendo has the balls to make another one after receiving critical reception that the last one sucked
Do they just not like to listen? Thank god the rumor mill is pointing to an announcement for an OG paper mario soon.

I think RPGs are everything

I didn't say they were RPGs because they were turn based. So obviously you don't know what RPG structure they follow.

I don't really give a shit about the RPG mechanics so much as the story. There hasn't been any plot or world building worth mentioning since Super paper Mario. The gameplay of a paper Mario game barely fucking matters, I know that's going to make some autist seethe but it's true. All the charm came from the unique designs, and the rare chance to see a fleshed out marioverse. Sticker Star and colour splash are both 0/10 for this reason, they have none of that beyond the occasional joke

Cope paperfag. Enjoy stickerstar 3.

>the consumable card mechanic wasnt a fucking disgrace
If you only care about reading a book with Mario characters, you can shove a rod all the way through your nose and out the back of your head.
Even when the story is thin as papyrus, the gameplay can at least carry. Paper Mario games after super failed to do even that. At least super has novelty appeal but even it is pretty dull to play and a lot of charm came from story.

>Super Paper Mario
>Plot
>World Building

Where? The game had nothing of any substance it was all just random fanfic tier crap that had absolutely not correlation with the equally made up on the spot story.

Smoothbrain take.

That's really retarded, but also explains why they dropped F-Zero and Advance Wars. Too close to other properties in terms of gameplay.

>you can shove a rod all the way through your nose and out the back of your head.
I actually can't do that :(

>Mario & Luigi series exists, so they have to be different
This was always stupid reasoning.

That's not true at all. The game had tons of world building and an interesting plot.

Super Paper Mario was unironically a better Paper Mario, RPG and overall game than Sticker Star. Never played Color Splash, so I don't know if its better or worse.

Only stupid reasoning can explain the stupid decision to remove all redeeming attributes of a successful series.

I want to fuck her in the ass while jerking off her cute little shadow cock.

Yeah

>Partners removed
>Leveling up and experience points removed
>disconnected level select tier world map
>forced to use consumable stickers for attacks
>story is completely bare bones. Bowser's dialogue is non-existant
>No original characters. Every NPC in the game is a red Toad
>one tiny town
>shitty art direction
>LOOK GUYS! PAPER! mechanics. No subtlety
What the fuck were they thinking?

I want something cohesive not a slapdash spattering of contrivance and pure bollocks masquerading itself as a story. I'd say Color Splash's story is better, the world is built better, the characters acknowledge the plot.

90% of SPM doesn't even have the characters acknowledge the big fuck off purple hole sucking stuff up.
