Fuck no. Even if this was a novel or a movie, the twist would still be horrendous, but in a game where you exert control over a character and where dying is a failure state its 100x worse. You've played as Joel for 8+ hours, then he dies, so in a sense you as a player have died, then you play as his killer, so in a sense you killed yourself, and then have to go and kill the other player you've controlled. The whole thing's going to be a fucking mess of emotions purely because it is a game. If you care about Joel and Ellie, you can't start controlling their killer and expect the players to not feel immediately disconnected from the game and not then throw Abby into the nearest infected horde, watch her die, then quit the game.

With them dead I have no more emotional investment in the game, nor do I care about this new chick they were afraid to give boobs
