Is it good?
I'm desperate for another timesink RPG
Is it good?
yes it is go play it
>timesink
yes
>rpg
nope. You cannot alter the story in a meaningful way. It ends on a cliffhanger because they ran out of cash. You can beat most fights by walking backwards and swing as the ai suddenly goes full retard. You can swing, watch your weapom visibly intersect the model, and then watch as the enemy animation cancels out because your stats weren't good enough.
Yes, it's great. I'd say one of the best Open World RPGs in the last few years, that includes Shitcher and Breath of the zelda
Never listen to niggers like who complain about difficulty. They are just shit at videogames.
>nope. You cannot alter the story in a meaningful way.
You can't alter the story in almost every single JRPG either, retard. Doesn't mean they're bad games.
>shit at videogames
if walking backwards and attacking breaks the ai, that's not my fault for using it. That's on the developers for not anticipating such a basic tactic.
It's great, definetely try it if you don't mind the jank.
Its terrible and not fun. Even 76 is more fun than this.
It's okay. It goes downhill after you kill the bald guy. Theresa's DLC is really good.
>Is it good?
It's the DEFINITION of rough, massively unpolished gem. There is a LOT to it, it has a lot of depth, quite a lot of content (though nowhere near as much as say New Vegas or Skyrim - think more Gothic 1 / Risen scale), the environments, characters, quests and general atmosphere and tone are absolutely fantastic and very much unique. It does not hold your hand, it gives you a ton of freedom in how to approach things, and it has a very nice tone tone to it, mixes humor and more serious elements together rather well.
But there is a LOT to hate about it too. The controls are jank at the best of times, the pacing is all fucked up, and ballance is basically non-existent. Combat system has a lot going for it in theory, but due to some issues with execution and MASSIVE problems with ballancing it can become either infuriatingly frustrating, or laughably easy and only very, very rarely hits the sweetspot in which it's actually fun.
There are bugs up the arse even today, there are elements that are clearly massively unfinished (animal A.I. for an example), and there are quite a few tedious, time-wasting quests for no good reason.
And while the settings, story and characters are great, and so are many of the individual quests, the main plot is actually really lackluster. On one hand it's nice to see a more toned-down, local story that is adventurous enough but still fairly grounded, but on the other hand, a LOT of the plot elements go nowhere, and very little is actually properly resolved in the grand scheme of things.
My advice is to give it a try IF you are the kind of patient person who can deal with jank, especially slav-jank.
Also, if you are going to play it, instal some mods - "sectorial lockpicking" and "instant herb-picking" are two I consider an absolute must have. Don't go over-board, many mods are just cheats, but quality of life ones are worth it.
Finally, play on hardcore, take tapeworm perk, don't take sleepwalking.
I'm jealous of anyone who hasn't played this absolute masterpiece. Go play it rn OP
Fwiw the DLC is just okay. The base game by itself has plenty of content
you cant rape children so its bad.
Literally not know what RPG means. Why do you talk about shit when you don't have even rudimentary understanding of the terminology?
Yes. Great rpg from a great developer
It's fair. I sunk a lot of time into combat, only to late find out that I was missing some core skills because you learn then through dialogue instead of skill progression. If that hadn't soured me by 20 hrs. in, I might have finished it.
It's a great game. It does have some jank to it, but to me that wasn't a major detriment.
You can easily spend 100h with it.
if you're prepared for combat to cause you bouts of nervous breakdown, then sure go ahead
Just picked this game up a few weeks ago, I've been playing it non stop.
It's super comfy and immersive, and if you're into simulator type management you'll enjoy it.
Highly recommend it.
It's greatest flaw is it's lack of budget. There's a lot of passion and vision behind the direction of this game and the result is an immersive and realistic adventure that has found it's niche and sticks with it. Lots of cool armor, fair weapon variety, well written characters, etc.
I'm a big fan of the art style used in menus too although they feel a bit cluttered at times
But like said there is a distinct lack of polish that can break the game's immersion at times. Fighting more then one person at a time can be an absolute nightmare with the janky targeting system that felt more designed for 1v1 combat. My biggest gripe is basic movement through rough terrain. The natural environments of forests and rivers are gobsmackingly gorgeous and realistic but the MC has troubles stepping over the smallest rocks or inclines. I'm not even talking in a rough terrain sense where movement is slowed on less traveled ground, I'm talking you're movement is disabled if you bump into a rock that's 1 inch taller then the ground. It's incredibly frustrating, especially when you're trying to be stealthy
Definitely a recommendation if you're a western RPG fan, but have patience
A quick note if you do get it: Some of the quests have timers built into them so once you start a quest chain then how fast you complete a part will change what happens next. A cool feature in my own opinion but can lead to undesired consequences if you didn't know it was there
Yes its one hell of a time sink. The level of detail really is immersive.
>You cannot alter the story in a meaningful way
What on earth are you blathering about?
It's good except for how any time you get ambushed by 3 or more enemies while travelling you may as well just load your last save immediately because they'll just pull you off your horse and stop you from ever getting away and kill you dead.
Combined with saves using up an item this becomes incredibly frustrating.
>Just avoid ambushes then
The last time I had an encounter in the forest I saw a group of knights fighting with a group of bandits. I decided it was dangerous to get involved so turned around to go back the way I came and take another path, only for six more bandits to have spawned in behind me.
Get a non shit horse
You're right, JRPGs are bad for a different reason.
Jew storyline when?
No. Why do you need to ask this question? It is well documented that this game is terrible. You will only get politically motivated contrarianism here.
Got this on game pass and it was big shit. Why play this when you can play mordhau
Yes. But only when you play it from ssd
get Underrail
racist nazi devs. do not buy it.
dil8
The combat seems fun at first and then you realize that you can't just push into an enemy and hit them. You have to do the whole parry, counter strike, doge, counter strike retarded shit. The game will drag out combat just to fuck with you.
Really? Gonna order a second copy then
>parrying requires you to match the direction of the incoming attack
that lone would make mordhau competitively viable.
This is probably the best description and breakdown of this game that I've read.
>on one hand it's nice to see a more toned-down, local story
I was so happy to see this in an open world RPG though that I will forgive all of the wasted plot elements because of it. It was incredibly refreshing to play a game of this scale since every other game seemingly has you as a chosen-one/god king tasked with preventing the apocalypse.
Even after all this time its still full of retarded bugs.
>can't go up stairs or go over a twig
>walk over bushes
>horse gets stuck on almost anything that's bigger than a pebble
>AI either knows exactly where you are during the night or they suddenly lose sight of you while you're riding circles right in front of them during the day
>discrete looting inside a village or keep will net you a fine regardless
>AI during scripted fights is abysmal
