I think it’s still possible to play as Abby while focusing on Ellie, weird as it may sound. Viewing alley through a different lens. The part I’m curious about is the transgender part. I’ve been able to find no sources other than work here on Yas Forums that Abby is trans

it probably is only talked about here because her supposedly being a tranny has been talked about here since her first appearance in the trailer so if they aren't even aware that it's been a rumour for that long then it can't be talked about much outside of Yas Forums
Even with that, I think it’s possible that the leaks and this post could be true at the same time. Assuming the Reddit post is legit, it makes more sense than what we presumed, and it doesn’t invalidate the leaks either.

As far as I know, The voice actor and mocap actor are both cis women, and I haven’t seen any plat points in the leaks that have anything to do with the trans politics or anything
We already know she doesn't die. The epilogue is after Abby beats the crap out of Ellie and her girlfriend, and it features Ellie's girlfriend giving birth to the child of some guy who dies early in the game (I believe his name is Jesse) and Ellie resolving to take care of the child.

I understand if you don’t want to buy it. I understand people are upset about some of the directions this game takes. I just want people to know that the leaks might not be the full story. The leaks are literally a bullet point list of whatever plot points the leaker thought were important. If you tried to summarize TLOU part one and a bullet point list, it would sound boring as fuck and irritating. Plus, the leaker was allegedly a disgruntled employee. I’m not saying that they are lying, but I do think they have plenty of reason to be biased and try to make the game look bad

I am OK with Joel getting killed that way so long as the story is well written enough to justify why it happens. People have been speculating that he was going to die since the first trailer. I don’t think that was ever a surprise. I definitely still don’t approve of the way Neil treats his employees though. And he can get preachy at times. I just hope that doesn’t happen in the final game

Although it can be argued that this could be the case... what kills this speculation for me is the fact that The debug menu clearly shows all the chapters in the game, and showcases that it is indeed you play as Abby though the rest of the game, as the ending builds up to a sequel.
