FFXIV

>enjoy the healer playstyle in games because I'm very fucking good at it
>WHM was my main in FFXI
>play FFXIV ARR on launch
>get WHM to 50
>doing well, kept everyone up even when doing chimera and titan hard mode
>WHM is a fucking breeze for me
>queue up for Keeper of the Lake as WHM
>immediately everyone starts dying
>maybe it was a fluke
>wiped and reset
>they all drop dead like fucking bricks again, can't even keep up cures with how fast their health is dropping
>run out of MP spamming cures to keep these people from fucking dying
>wiped 2 more times
>"dude come on man"
>they all leave
>never play a healer in FFXIV ever again

Who was in the fucking wrong here? This shit bothers me to no end. I main PLD now since I can still heal myself and others when needed, it's nice to play, but my fucking god, what happened on that day?

keeper of the lake has actual mechanics so chances are it was actually the group's fault as a whole. i'm pretty sure there's a special add that keeps spawning that you have to kill quickly on the final boss

>spamming cures

I seriously hope you were doing more than spamming Cure over and over.

Both healing and tanking absolutely sucks if your ilevel isn't above the dungeon's max ilevel. Everyone is used to play at max ilevel, so maxed tanks will go suicidal and maxed DPS will brute force their way to top enmity without giving a shit about anything.

Usually in XIV, the group is at fault for making the healer have to work. There are always so many mechanics that can be avoided that dps just facetank. The amount of times I have had to Blackest Night some shitter dps so they dont kill themselves is uncountable. Fuck all dps players, tank and healer chads for life.

It's because prior to that dungeon most mechanics could be ignored and healed through. It's not your fault your shitty party couldn't handle 1 mechanic per boss fight. Then again it is your fault for even wanting to heal and wear dresses faggot.

We were on the very first trash mobs and they were dropping dead from just those. Didn't even get to the first boss.

was the tank pulling... everything?

how in the fuck. was it a full pull? lvl 50 dungeon mobs hit like literal babies and drop faster than flies even when doing wall-to-wall.
was your tank geared? were you geared?

>Who was in the fucking wrong here?
Its always the DPS' fault
Always

I'm a male hyur, straight as an arrow, yet was entirely unaware of how abysmally homosexual they'd make all healer gear look in FFXIV.

>spamming cure
>not spamming stone

Dungeons can fluctuate greatly in difficulty, especially when leveling. That being said you talked about doing titan hard and chimera so clearly you were geared for it. I bet it's a combination of you being a brainlet and your team not knowing mechanics.

No, the tank pulled just the first batch and everyone either died or almost died just sitting there taking those down. Then the run hit a halt when we were walking up the ramp to the first boss but there was one last trash pack that killed everyone every time until they all left. I was absolutely baffled.

Whatever you say freddie mercury.

Hahaha he died.

sounds like a gear issue

Every bad team blames the healer, fyi. It's easiest to blame the one who needs to juggle your mistakes when you're so bad you fuck absolutely everything up.

Man, I never struggled with mechanics, I'm 100% certain that I didn't do anything wrong, yet still they all died. That shit still gives me tumblr tier ptsd thinking about it. How did they die? I will never know, but that one instance made me despise healing in FFXIV forever.

That last group has aoes that will fuck people up if not stunned/dodged. Sounds like either that or your gear was broken.

I was thinking about this and the tank had relevant gear. It wasn't god tier for that dungeon, I think it was right at the requirements for it. Still, surely his gear shouldn't have made it that damn impossible to keep him alive, right?

How do I know if I'm playing Dancer right?

>tanking Qitana Ravel last night to level DRK
>get to that first pull after the second boss where you leap down the waterfall
>pop sprint, literally see my aoe hit all the mobs as I run past
>by the time I reach the wall I've already lost aggro on a few of them
>wtf, my stance is obviously on
>whoever grabbed aggro doesn't bring the adds over to me
>whatever just voke em
>run Qitana 2 more times
>exact same shit keeps happening

legitimately don't know what went wrong. were the dps just going too hard?

I had the best gear for the dungeon though. I know back then, broken armor was a lot more prevalent but I wasn't one of those retards.

no, your gear. if you were spamming cure, and they still died, and weren't standing in aoe, you were undergeared. probably the ilevel 90 accessories, the af2 set and a level 48 staff

Are you falling off platforms? Then yes.

Keeper of the Lake is a pretty nasty nut puncher for new players. If you fuck up mechanics and don't adapt everything goes to shit.

Nope, I had the latest HQ crafted set at the time. Can't remember the name of it, but it was way above that dungeon's requirements.

>Dancer
>ever right

Amount of erp requests received when idlan in limsa.

your initial agro hit doesn't add up to much, a DPS getting out a few seconds of damage on an add you've hit with your AOE once will tear the agro away from you.
hitting them with a full AOE combo should do the trick.

If one dungeon run with a bunch of spastics puts you off something after investing countless hours of time into it, then you never had the mental to stick with it in the first place.

I was in The Vault while leveling once and we almost timed out because one dps died instantly every time on the last boss. I flamed him then was told by another party member that they had legitimately had down syndrome and asked me to stop being mean to him. Never felt so bad, but there are literal retards playing this game and you're going to get them if you're queuing solo.
