it was to far ahead of its time.

Disk 2.

The levelling system. You shouldnt have to micromanage the difficulty of the enemies. Thats retarded.

>Monsters leveling up with you.
>Drawing magic
>Card game rules
>Pants-on-head-retarded story if you stop to think about it
>"Time" being a plot point in the story
>Bitchy emo protag
>Final boss is "mysterious figure you find out about an hour before fighting in a 60+ hour game"

not enough fujin and rajin.

Nothing? Its pretty good just like all the other Final fantasy games.

honestly I just wish you could keep seifer and edea in your party

nothing, stupid zoomers

Isnt Squall insecure? Not the same as emo

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks squalls portrait in particular is just absolutely awful

we totally owned you lamers

Nothing it's a great game. it's just retards falling to understand how to play FF8

You guys should try TES Oblivion for the kek's on their level scaling.

>>Monsters leveling up with you.
Not a problem if you have the proper spells junctioned
>>Drawing magic
Refine
>>Card game rules
Queen of cards
>>Pants-on-head-retarded story if you stop to think about it
That's your opinion
>>"Time" being a plot point in the story
Time based plots can work
>>Bitchy emo protag
t. never played the game. Squall is a great character with amazing character development
>>Final boss is "mysterious figure you find out about an hour before fighting in a 60+ hour game"
Ultimecia was controlling Matron the whole time she was Edea we've been interacting with her since disc one

>still defending this turd day after day

I mean it's no 2 or 15 but if you enjoy playing with feces I guess......

Seethe more. it's a great game

so are you the Barry of FF8 or what?

Are you a parrot who spews the same retarded "criticisms" of this game

>Insufferable main character
>Boring as fuck cast (the only cool playable character is Irvine)
>Magic system was gay
>Can't grind for money. Have to literally wait for mommy to give you lunch money
>Can't buy weapons. Have to collect magazines and parts
>Level scaling
>Boring, uninteresting story

They really should have started you out with some refine abilities, and have you unlock draw 1 hour in.

It feels more like a Persona game than Final Fantasy. Your party is a bunch of high school kids with meme personalities who somehow get tangled up in a save the world story, but honestly I would have preferred if the whole game was just hanging out on the comfy campus playing cards and doing romance subplots. It's tonally all over the place, other Final Fantasy games did a much better job of balancing the small-scale personal stories with the large-scale save the world plot, and balancing the humor with the drama.

>>Insufferable main character
Wrong
>>Boring as fuck cast (the only cool playable character is Irvine)
Wrong
>>Magic system was gay
Wrong
>>Can't grind for money. Have to literally wait for mommy to give you lunch money
Sell items
>>Can't buy weapons. Have to collect
magazines and parts
I beat the whole game with just revolver
>>Level scaling
not a problem
>>Boring, uninteresting story
Wrong

>levelscaling and breaking the combat with junctions
They were good ideas, but the devs overlooked how easily the player could break the game if they knew what they were doing. To me, the junction system is really cool though. I know it'll never get remade, but if it did, I think they would rework these two concepts some, to keep the difficulty curve
>drawing/stocking magic
Drawing magic takes an eternity, which is intentional, as they don't want you beefing your characters up too fast, but its still tedious regardless. It also actively discourages using magic, as you need them for junctioning.
>plot conveniences
There are a handful of these (most notably the orphanage reveal.) I don't think they necessarily are too big of a negative, as Ultimecia's character arc revolves around the inability to escape fate, but they could've reworked these scenes to help maintain the suspension of disbelief a bit more.

Those are what I would consider to be the biggest flaws. Still have a lot of love for this game despite them though.

It was a bit too kino for it's own good.

Refine, card mod
>There are a handful of these (most notably the orphanage reveal.)
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the orphanage scene.

Everything it was a terrible fucking game

Okay spoony

>What went wrong?
They refuse to admit that R=U.

Persona didnt become "the" teenage RPG series until P3. And the cast of FF III is even younger than the cast of VIII.

>Refine, card mod
Still pretty tedious grinding out items or cards.
>There is absolutely nothing wrong with the orphanage scene.
Yes, there is. It comes across as a complete asspull, whether it was planned from the start or not. It's mostly used as a means to show why the characters would strive to try and come to a peaceful resolution with Edea, but they could've achieved it in a more organic way.

This. It gives Ultimecia much needed depth and makes a lot of sense in universe.
