Based.

That belongs to the Ys series.

more like Yikes!

KH1 is a better RPG, KH2 is a better action game

It's not much of an RPG.

It's really not that hard to give players options to scale the degree to which your game is Action or RPG and put in good design like damage clamping.
The majority of devs who make ARPGs are just incompetent retards who don't understand Action or RPG mechanics and how they clash and that's sad.

very based

I can't comprehend why Osaka team just couldn't into KH2 physics and combat, it's like the concept of animation cancelling was just completrly foreign to them

Serious question but which Ys do you recommend?
I've only played origins, memories of celestia, and a bit of the latest but the combat never gripped me in any of them.

That’s not Zelda OOT

zelda is an adventure game you retard

I will never forgive you guys for making me fall for this.

i fucking HATE the mechanic in 2 where the last hit on a boss must be a combo finisher or you cant kill it. fucking stupid decision

Based on what?

The launcher counts as a finisher.

Literally how? Are you like 5 years old?
Fucking walking sims require more input from the player.

the slowmo in kh1 when you kill a boss is kino it took me awhile to like the kh2 finishing, i just map thunder and use that if i have to

Pleb filter. If I get it as an ability to where an enemy can't combo lock me into death, it's only fair to finish of the enemy with a combo.

Or just toss thunder, which locks on to the target anyway.

It’s to punish mashing idiots. I love that mechanic and was mad they dropped it in 3

Can't do cool shit like this in KH2 so I'm gonna have to disagree with you there chief

>all these rubes coming out of the woodworks to shit on a series they've never played

Equip the ability that makes your magic lock on.
Set Thunder to a shortcut.

Lame. Reaction commands made KH2 kino.

Not even the best action rpg in the series. And FF7R blows them all out of the water.

>pressing triangle and watching a cutscene made kh2 kino
well you're not wrong it did turn it into a movie

I'm playing a magic run on hard mode right now and even though it hasn't been impossibly hard it has started to show some cracks in its design. I really don't like how they want you to "tech" certain moves just to leave you without any kind of advantage.
>Tech move
>Stun boss (anyone with a sword - Cloud guy from 8, Riku)
>They might abuse super armor after that, so a followup attack isn't always a good idea despite the game teaching you that you should follow up

Also
>Fighting Ursula
>Fast swimming keeps getting in my way
>Get behind her head which is an exploit more than a strat
>She keeps using the all encompassing lightning storm
>Consecutively

Clearly this game wasn't play tested with the harder difficulties in mind. What's worse is that Donald and Goofy always die as soon as each boss fight begins. I'm willing to understand that a magic run with a defense as my second trait wasn't the best route to go, but it's the devs fault it sucks so much. Really it's just a couple of bosses though. When I'm fighting regular enemies I feel as though I'm top of the world.

taking the staff and giving up the sword is literally the optimal way to play the game. if you dont take staff you get gimped out of maximum MP bars, and the shield gives better abilities than the sword for proud mode.

Good to know that. The reason I decided to go for a magic run was due to how great the magic is in this game. I only assumed it wasn't optimal since the bosses seem to brush off most magical attacks.

Is KH2FM that much better than the original? I was going to play through it on PS2, and I don't care much about lore or optional bosses.

Yes it's better. Even if you're not gonna do the extra bosses (which you should because it's the best content in the game) it's still worth it over the original release. There's an added boss fight to the main story, more areas, more keyblades, new abilites, and most importantly critical mode which it the ideal way to play the game. You have less health and take more damage so it's more of a challenge but you also do more damage so fights go quicker.
