>When the 501st was finally rotated out of Felucia, Aayla Secura made a point of seeing us off personally, calling us the bravest soldiers she had ever seen. It's a good thing we were wearing helmets, because none of us could bear to look her in the eye

Why couldn't they look at her? Did she bang all of them?

you have to be 18 to post here

>the best Star Wars experience ever made was bot matches with in-game cinematics and a voiceover
still baffles me how good this was

That's a yes

501st movie when?

>"What I remember about the rise of the Empire is… is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip; we all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private traitorous thoughts? Perhaps- but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant, not when Order 66 came down, and not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word."

Why hasn't any star wars vidya since been as good, lads?

>The slight whiff of nostalgia the 501st had enjoyed fighting the droid fleet over mustafar had already grown sour by the time we'd established orbital positions. Now it was time to find out what this was all about.

I really liked the psp battlefront games, I think it's called elite squadron?

It's kinda funny how a bunch of offline bot matches with low quality gameplay cinematics has a much more compelling story than the trash that was the nu-bf2 campaign.

dude chips lmao
never not be mad

NOW HEAR THIS
Elite Squadron was the PSP game with ground to space battles. The PSP also had Renegade Squadron (no ground to space) and a port of Battlefront 2.

I rememebr most the later parts where they have a mission explaining why Storm Troopers are all different in the OT is because half of the clones riot and fight the empire for killing the Jedi on the rain planet.
The voice over, core gameplay, music, level design, and love went a long fucking way.

amazing how filoni ruined the clone wars because he couldn't stand the fact that if he kept to old canon his ocs would either have to die or become bad guys

Wasn't the 501st basically all elite troops and commandos and shiet by then? I think those get to have some degree of free will unlike normal troopers

Obedience Chips made "private traitorous thoughts" and anything related to that non-canon

Don't think so, definitely not in nuCanon, they are regular clones just like the others

It was minimalist storytelling
they give you and some elements to follow, narration and story driven objectives but all the gameplay is left to you and the ai, no scripted events or cutscenes to upset the flow of game in a match

>Elite squadron
>Renegade squadron
hidden gems imo, being able to blow up enemy capital ships was so fun in elite and renegade is one of the few games with the TIE defender

Kino.

Reminder that this was retconned thanms to TCW.

So fucking cringe.

this game is living proof that all you need to make a good game is solid gameplay and effort put into the writing

To be fair, clones not being able to control themselves once O66 was issued is just as kino, and makes more sense as well

How the fuck would implanted chips go unnoticed without raising any questions?
Why the fuck would you need implanted chips?
The clones are conditioned to be unquestioningly loyal to the republic, and by extension, palpatine. It seems perfectly reasonable that the republic would have hundreds of thousands of contingency plans, especially that far into the war, and at least one of them would include the subversion or betrayal of the jedi order. That's all you need. It's as simple as that. The highest authority that they're conditioned to obey told them that the jedi order was now an enemy of the republic. You don't need magical chips in their head that make them evil so you can take them out to make them good guys in a children's cartoon show.

My favorite part of ES was getting BTFO on the ground, respawning in the capital ship, blasting the command post with the ship's ion cannon, and going back to the surface to retake them.

They didn't. There were a couple of close calls like this one clone trooper had his jedi killing protocol be executed prematurely then another found out and died free.

Why does everyone hate the chips?
It makes more sense that clones had a neural chip rather than them fighting beside Jedi for an entire war only for ALL of them to turn on them, as well as not a single clone ever mentioned that they were going to kill Jedi when ordered.
Sheev's plan could have been ruined by one defector.

Which is precisely why it's so fucking stupid to have IMPLANTED BRAIN CONTROL CHIPS IN EVERY SINGLE CLONE WHOSE SOLE PURPOSE IS TO MAKE THEM WANT TO KILL JEDI

DO YOU SERIOUSLY NOT SEE HOW FUCKING STUPID THAT IS?

It's about seeing their relationships with their Jedi and makes the betrayal that much colder and grim compared to the movies where most clones don't even have names, I think Obi-wan calls Cody by his name maybe twice

that sounds actually cheap but extremely good if done properly.

OH N-

The chips were biological though, so unless you knew exactly what were you looking for you wouldn't detect them, the entire Fives arc is about that

not him but I have to agree with you user
feloni kinda fucked up by humanizing the clones so much, which would be really interesting because it would make the betrayal all the more tragic, but instead of leaving the dark tragety in place they made them blameless taking cowards way out and put all the blame on 'da conspiracy'
