Anyone who thinks Sonic has the most autistic fanbase in 2020 is out of their minds. Back in 07 maybe. At least the autistic Sonic fans rise to the occasion and make shit like Sonic Mania, they can harness their autism for good.

Touhou Project.
Its autism is self sustaining, and a decent chunk of Touhou fans don't even play Touhou games, and are just in it for fanfiction and girls. Their autism is only beaten by Pokemon

Funnily enough, both Pokemon and Touhou got relegated to their own boards (/jp/ used to function as the Touhou board, though it wasn't spelled out as such).

The melee community is the most autistic and irredeemable sub-fanbase that's actually on the mainstream radar ever and you'd be hard pressed to convince me otherwise. At least you don't have to have an ancient TV and a very specifically broken model of a very specific version of the gamecube controller to break into Sonic or Undertale.

Smash. All of it. The insane theories that PROVE that HE'S IN. The obsession with "representing" things nobody cares about. The absurd "politics" they try to force onto a silly crossover game. The way they decide 5 or so random characters are the center of the universe and obsess over them. The way they act personally offended when the developers don't do what their circlejerks say. The autistic shrieking over literally every character that is announced. The insane obsessive hatred of a video game developer that leads to them creating personas that they project onto a guy living in japan to treat him like a supervillain to justify their pathetic victim complexes. I play this game because it's a crazy crossover, but these crazy fucks treat it like a religion.
