As an outsider seeing this whole Remake debacle playing out, it makes me wonder what makes the Remake so decisive? It almost seems like it has everything going against it:
>only 1/10th of the actual game, stretched out to an absurd degree to the point where it has ruined the pacing of the original.
>incorporating story shit that nobody wanted and completely betray the themes and morals of the original’s story
But, it seems like Twitterfags and ecelebs that aren’t Dunkey have nothing but positivity for the game. Even the “hardcore” FF7 normalfags fans are praising it.
This could probably be nothing but some shill propaganda conspiracy nonsense that I should blindly believe is the case according to this board but I feel like there’s more to it. Am I missing something?

Bought out people. It is a literal sequel. Good gameplay, shit story, insane filler.
I'm not sure what's going on either senpai
people complain that it's not the same game they played 20 years ago
people are still in denial unfortunately. a lot of fanboys attach their identity to the franchise so they have a hard time admitting it's shit
I actually like dunkey's review, tired of people being stupidly positive about the game even if they have qualms, they'll go on how it's a 10/10 but once they're an hour into discussion seriously talk about it's flaws and it's like, if you're admitting it then it's obviously not as great as your saying, I really like the game the cutscenes especially but outside of dunkey dislike of cutscenes, anime and japanese localized dubs his video is almost 100% on point, god I hate the plate section so much, the entire section where you play as Aerieth is so fucking drawn out, Reno and Rude's character is ruined not in giving them depth in regretting their decision but way spending so much time on it, and places like the highway underpass with the robot arms needing to be side sections instead of parts of the main game, no one else wants to focus on these when bringing up the game, outside of Yas Forums at least
The ghost rage is overhyped by fat autists. FF7R has the best dialogue and character interactions in video game history. The overall plot is great. There were only one or two scenes I wish had minor changes. It has the best non turn based combat in RPG history. Get ready for the UNKNOWN JOURNEY, faggots.
think about the new star wars trilogy. it'll play out the same way.
>Even the “hardcore” FF7 normalfags fans
these fans are usually people who played the psx version once for a few hours, read about the story and twists and watched advent children and played crisis core
It's honestly really good overall.
I just finished playing the original up to getting out of midgar, so about 5 hours
I'm 2 hours into VIIR and so far it's so ridiculously better I dont know how you can defend the original (up through midgar anyway). The combat is better (and not because the original is turn based, but because VII's turn based combat just wasnt very interesting and far too simple), the character interactions and presentation flesh out the cast and setting far more than the original. The only thing I'm liking less is the soundtrack; the reactor theme doesnt hit nearly as hard as the originals for example. It's just kind of limp
Of course only finished chapter 2 so maybe things will take a nosedive. And I dont care about the spoilers, I've never put any stock in FF's stories, they've never been a strong point of the series
>Of course only finished chapter 2 so maybe things will take a nosedive.
They will
Never thought Id say this but
Dunkey is fucking based
To be fair FF has never really been strong in the story department
the game drags like a motherfucker until the last 3 chapters, enjoy, it took me 2 weeks to finish the game and I usually finish new games in 3-5 days.
It's a great 20 hour game, with 20 extra hours of bad content, and a horrible ending.
Does the game really need to be that long though? Like the farthest I got in FF7 was only shortly after Midgar and I remembered it to be very engaging because things were constantly happening and a snappy pace. If I wasn’t as busy at the time, I probably would’ve kept playing. I can understand fleshing out that part of the game but it seems like stretching out to that long is just overkill.
I think the biggest flaw is how in "opening up the possibilities" with the ending, they've effectively written themselves into a corner from a pacing perspective
they have to figure out how to "reset the scales", so to speak, so that we can start caring about the stakes again
either by distracting us with more down to earth problems (the Midgar/Wutai subplot they've established or something like that) or say "fuck it" and just start stupidly raising the existential stakes as fast as possible
my fear is they are going to go for the latter
>>insane filler.
im playing it right now and I cant believe it how much unnecessary stuff they put in it. they dragged out Midgar to a 30-40 hour game..
anyone seeing the exact same NPCs around every corner?
In the slums you can see a woman, then travel 50 feet around a corner and see the same one
>take ff via, xiii, and xv combat and stick it in a blender
>it actually kind of works
I'm surprised. Mechanically this easily has my favorite non-ATB combat in a FF game. They managed to take what works from each of those games and avoid their shortcomings
Fuck I wish XIII amd XV played more like this
It's a great game, and the only people whining about it are manchildren who obsessively played the original.
New players or people who only played the original back in the day won't even notice the "padding" or the new plot elements which supposedly "ruin" the story.
It's literally all just autists screeching about their nostalgia being ruined.
he's right

None of the chapters are bad, but many of them are far more sluggish than the first two. You've probably already discovered that by now if you've gotten to chapter 3.
>Keep saying it
cope
I don't know what these other fags are talking about Chapter 2 is easily one of the worst ones. If you liked that you'll like the rest the only bad part of the game is the last 30 minutes or so.
It's a 9/10 12 hour game stretched into a 5/10 40 hour game
I played the original for like 2 hours and dropped it, got the remake and it does have serious padding.
Chapter 1 is great, the game starts off with a major bang, from then on its complete shit until you enter the Shinra building during chapter 15 or something.
There are so many moments when the game forces to walk slow, squeeze through tight walls, climb ladders, hold triangle down for 5sec to shut off/on a switch.
Take the second mako reactor for an example, having to shut off 3 sunlights in chapter 6, going through 4 identical rooms in chapter 7 to turn off the air buster parts, the slow as fuck robot arm sections in chapter 9, doing the sewers twice, having that faggot lose his ring so you have to chase a monster around the entire place only to end up where you started to begin with.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and at the end of the day, thats what is most important to me.
The original is still to this day my favorite game of all time. The changes also don't bother me because I never went into this with the idea that this will replace the original. It not being just an HD recreation of it is fine with me because no matter where it goes I'll always love the original.
I can see why some might not like it, but I still think some of the hate is overblown. I have critiques with the game, but overall definitely great to me.
I'm convinced that Squeenix has everyone they gave review copies to under a strict NDA to never talk about the ending.
Do you think the later parts of the game are going to include appearances of any FF characters outside of 7's Compilation? And who would you most like and/or hate to see?
>There are so many moments when the game forces to walk slow, squeeze through tight walls, climb ladders, hold triangle down for 5sec to shut off/on a switch.
Clueless dumbasses like you don't understand that most of this is used to mask loading screens. Maybe the game should have put LOADING on them just so people would appreciate it instead of just finding it obnoxious.
I'm enjoying the game myself, what I am mad about though is that time jannie posting seems to have disappeared after being flavor of the month. That shit was fucking hilarious but I guess now that people are unironically enjoying themselves it's not as fun to do anymore.
id like to see prince Noctis come through a portal and replace aeris with Luna.
It was amusing, but I feel like a lot of it was overblown. Once people started getting it in their hands many saw that it either wasn't as bad as they thought or just enjoyed the game regardless.
Except a lot of those are immediately followed by a cutscene, followed by a forced walking section, followed by another cutscene.
For example, the first trip through the sewers.
Gilgamesh is usually a safe bet. He often gets an appearance added into remakes or sequels. After him, Omega and/or Shinryu are the next most likely.
I know what they are for you fucking retard, the issue is the overabunance of them.
I have played pretty much every big AAA title from the past 10 years and none of them were as bad as ff7r.
PC players and PS5 players in the future will have to deal with this shit too, shame to see retards like you defend it with such passion, replaying this game is going to be nightmare.
