Exactly as much as they did in the end. If you add power, you get less battery. If you reduce size, you either get less battery or a class action lawsuit over Switches cooking themselves a la early X360s. Storage is one thing they cheaped out on but it's better than current phones' trend of no expandability and paying $100 for 32 more gigs.

actually a big fan of the switch, but there are obvious flaws. first is price of games. botw is STILL $60 after 3 years, along with smash, super mario oddesy, splatoon 2 etc. for whatever reason these games don't have their prices lowered. second is storage, i'm having to buy pretty much hard copies of every game i want because of the lack of storage on this thing. my memory card is full, and i've had to archive software just to play new games. the actual hardware itself is very lackluster. in handheld mode my joycons always disconnect, not to mention the drifting issues 1000s of joycons faced.

its a great little system, but its just silly to assume there are no flaws

A few years ago, you'd think I was talking about the Ps4 or Xbox with these comments. Who would've thought that Nintendo would be the company that okayed excessive and greedy DLC practices, horrible optimization, and bandwagon fallacies to defend their products? The fans are just as guilty of this too, and infact propagate and defend these practices, therefore making them even worse.

As for the games themselves, I don't care too much for them. I don't like the movieshit JRPGs, Mario and Animal Crossing are too casual for my tastes (I despise casual games), Zelda is too poorly optimized and runs terribly, Smash became pay2win way too fast, and I don't have much hope for the future of the system. To be honest I dislike all consoles for this reason, and if you asked me why I hated the Ps4 or Xbox, the list of gripes would be similar.

I'd rather play an indie game than another AAA piece of trash.

games go on sale pretty frequently, botw and splatoon were both 40 bux fairly recently. you need to keep your eyes open for sales if you actually care about saving money. internal storage is pretty small, but the switch doesn't use any sort of proprietary memory so you can use any brand sd card you'd like and solve the issue very cheaply.

i'll agree your joycon experience may differ from others, i havent had drift issues since i had mine repaired last year so i can't really comment on that other than send them in as soon as you start to experience issues to take advantage of nintendo's free repair/replacement service.

if i had to pinpoint one gripe with the system, its the lack of messaging system amongst your friends. while i appreciate that you can easily add new friends through recently played games, the fact that you can't actually communicate with them to coordinate playing together again in the future makes me just ignore any and all friend requests. its one thing that really really should be addressed above anything else, and it would pretty much resolve any real complaints i have with the console.

Essentially, my rule is this: you are NEVER alllowed to charge for DLC, especially for a 60 dollar game. That is beyond greedy, and knowing Nintendo, they make record profits from the base game itself. That should be funding DLC so I can enjoy it later for free.

With games like starcraft, for example, you're essentially being moneyhatted into buying the expansion, otherwise you don't get to play online anymore. Or with Smash, you''ll be left at a blatant disadvantage since people who pay more money will get more fighters to choose from.
