There's constant dialogue throughout the second half of the game coming from the shades that you didn't hear the first time around. There's also added dialogue from Kaine's shade in several sections.

I prefer to play other games instead of replaying a single one several times just for few cutscenes.

What makes the combat worse than any 3D Zelda game, for example? It's nothing special but the combat is serviceable and even easy to essentially bypass with the Phoenix Spear.

Any part of the game that's "hard" exists only in the first half of playthrough 1 because you get the Phoenix Spear in the 2nd half completely destroys any semblance of difficulty.
