Still, the point is that they are one with the ecosystem and thrive by working WITH the planet, and humans are defined as Cetra who don’t do that, and who take enough extra for themselves that they don’t remain in touch with the planet. So that theme remains.

I disagree. I like that the AI is super basic and passive precisely because it encourages you to take control, either by issuing commands or completely switching over to the character depending on the situation, truly feels like you're controlling a whole party like in the original games.

If you make the AI too competent then it just becomes another FFXII and we're back to a boring battle system that mostly plays itself.
