Was it ever explained why Aizen was so strong? I only watched the anime but they never explained where his insane strength was coming from.
Sure, he was intelligent scientist that experimented with souls and shit and created the Hougyoku, but that wasn't the source of his power initially. Sure, he had overpowered Zanpakuto that could genjutsu anyone 100% but he barely ever used it. He was just that strong for practically no reason.
