Halo 1 is the best as far as story goes. Aliens are fucking shit up, wake up the Chief, he fucks their shit up and literally everything other than that is a mystery. Halo 2 and 3 is super political and story heavy, but the cinematography, soundtracks, voice lines etc. are still really good and gameplay's fun.

Arbiter, Tartarus, The prophets, Hivemind, Shipmaster, Halo 2s covenant campaign was so good and halo 3 just fucked it all up

Even the gameplay in 3 is ass tho, they slowed you down and made all the weapons innacurate and projectile based
