the worst part about a nostalgia for a series is when people start nostalgiaposting about a game you were born right after. hl2 was amazing for me. made most of my childhood. garrys mod (despite its current degeneration into autismic degeneracy) was one of the main social upbringings i had
hl1 didnt feel as immersive for me. even in 2010 hl2 just didnt age. 10 years after that i feel hl2 is finally showing the bare minimum for the aging process

That's how I felt but as HL2 ages more and more every year HL1 becomes the more appealing game to replay for every year that HL2 ages.

what turned me off was the audio
the horrible, crusty audio
every single sound in that game was done so fucking badly it made my teeth itch, biggest offenders being footsteps and vortigaunt mumbling
to this day i cant comprehend how in the name of fuck valve managed to mess this up when fucking quake, dn3d, quake 2 and unreal before it had fantastic, high quality audio, music included

HL1 was just a means for me to play Counterstrike, TFC, and the hundreds of other mods. I have intense nostalgia for all the ambient and environmental sounds from the HL1 engine just because of how many hours I spent in those games as a kid.

It got double fucked between the Xen invasion and 7 Hour War. They also nuked Black Mesa, which contained a nuclear power station.

Now that you mentioned it, the direction he ran off to while yelling about being doomed had an actual elevator that would've taken him outdoors.
I wonder how that scientist got there anyway. He couldn't have come from the elevator since Gordon was on it alone, and he probably didn't come from the direction that had tripmines and turrets because otherwise he would've known not to run there, and he definitely didn't come from the silo doors since they were closed and he wanted to go there.

I played Half Life 1 and 2 but none of the add-ons or episodes. Yesterday I installed one of then and decided to play them in chronological order. I played HL1 for a few hours and all I'm thinkimg about is how much I want to get to HL2 already, but I have yet to finish HL1, Opposing Force and Blue Shift
