I wanted to get into Halo and played 1 and 2 but the goddamn games don't even have a run option.

My Xbox had Dark Angel and Halo come with it, I was 4 when we got it and to this day I've never completed Dark Angel.

It was just the first good console FPS. I was a PC gamer back then but I still played it multiplayer with friends and thought it was fun. The PC version was good as well. Yas Forums wants to blame Halo for killing FPS but the reality is that PC becoming irrelevant killed FPS.

That was late 2001 wasn't it? I would have been balls deep in Ghost Recon 1, Operation Flashpoint and Soldier of Fortune 2 around the time I first played Halo.

I remember being impressed by the character animations, physics and reactivity of the AI but being really let down by how weak all the weapons were, also the lack of online multiplayer or any sandbox/custom mission stuff which I had been absolutely spoiled with at that point, Halo's vistas and quasi-open maps didn't impress me at all coming off the back of OFP.

Sof2 definitely impressed me more with its graphics and gore tech, the texture work and lighting, especially in the hospital levels holds up pretty well even today.
