Why did console RTS never take off?

Why did console RTS never take off?

Because there's no real reason that they would have.

Stop and think what it would be like to play an RTS with a controller
There's your answer

halo wars was p fun honestly but it was an exception out of an entire genre
it just doesn't work that well with controllers

Stop and think what it would be like to play an FPS with a controller

Stop and think what it would be like to play a fighting game with a controller

Stop and think what it would be like to play a driving/flying sim with a controller

What makes RTS any different?

It had a healthy online population for years, what the fuck are you on about
I played Kane's Wrath and both HaloWars on a controller, no problemo

You know, I think he did.

Lotr:Bfme2
I miss it.

Awkward controls plus the genre was already splitting into city builders and mobas by the time anyone tried to make them work on console

>Stop and think what it would be like to play an FPS with a controller
I started FPS with a controller but just imagining it now is just weird. I dont like how I can aim precisely while jumping because my thumb is either on the right analog stick or the jump button. Guess thats why halo was so slow when it came out.

You know bumper jumper is a think right?

"A think?" Also, what do you think the words in my post meant? Christ, the English on this site gets worse every day.

Honestly I feel RTS only has a future on consoles. PC has the grand strategy, City builders, and assfags.
Console can have classic RTS that doesn’t boil down to gook clicking at the higher levels.

for someone who doesn't leave the house without autocorrect on, you shouldnt be getting so hung up on obvious syntax mistakes you overcompensating ESL streetshitter

Halo Wars was pretty solid, especially for a console RTS.

>for someone who doesn't leave the house without autocorrect on
I guess phoneposters assume everyone is one of them? Truly remarkable. No, I proofread. It's very easy. There's nothing to compensate for, it takes very little time or effort not to embarrass yourself. You're really swinging your fuck-up around like a weapon instead of reading what you post before you post it. How do you take yourself seriously?

no mouse removes most of the micro leaving only the macro, it was pretty fun
like I already said, I used to play quite a bit of cnc3 on console and the fights were definitely a lot of fun, it's not like you couldn't do any of the classic strats like bikerushing
and the people ITT posting the tired old "argument" about "awkward controls" I doubt these faggits even tried building with radial menus

streetshitter post your turd world passport right now

there you go, console hotkeys

motherfucker, in all three of those examples, you are controlling 1(one)[uno]{ein} thing at once. A single character. A single vehicle.
In an rts, you need to manage at least a dozen(>12) things at once. A controller doesn't make that very easy at all. Where are your hotkeys? How do you map control groups? Where is your click & drag? How do you click your minimap to instantly jump perspective to another area?
Please, PLEASE use your brain on this, user.

let's just cut to the chase skipper
you never played rts on console
it's totally fine

Okay, now can I edit that to every other RTS for console?

that it, gonna casually backpedal to the next goalpost?

Holy shit dude, you got me. I'll now buy console rts'. You did it, you won.

yeah...I did just pull your pants down and BTFO you up the ass, didn't I
and back in the day when I was copying pc build orders like all the other guys on the 360 ladder seeing maybe a 5 second difference in all timings, I bet I could rush you the fuck down with some nodbikes without any particular problem either, on a controller no less LMAO

Consoles have limited hardware so unless the rts has a unit cap like warcraft 3 or halo wars the game will run very poorly when multiple units appear on screen. From a hardware perspective some rts games or general strategy games could work just fine but a game like supreme commander or homeworld would just be too much.

Because playing RTS on a controller is pure cancer

so is playing FPS on a controller but I guess underagefags are gonna play the cool shooty game for mature gamers regardless of how shit it actually is
fighting games are alright with a controller, it's the best option if you don't have a dedicated fight stick
racing games are great on a controller and even wheels+pedal sets are barely better
I never heard about any flying sims on console but they probably exist but yeah that would be another one where you should go with flight stick > KB+M > controller

What?

i remember one time i got cheesed with elite rush. i locked my base, built turrets, then let loose flamethrowers. it was 8 minutes of adrenaline-infused gameplay because this guy hadn't come across a guy like me who defended against them, and it was my first time against an elite rush. it was messy and i thought i was going to lose but he ended up quitting because i hadnt given up.

while mustards are off pretending they are the kings of fps, every single new release on pc is DEAD within the MONTH while consolechads are comfily playing ALL genres leaning back on the couch
yes, even fucking RTS

Wasted potential with the Wii and the Wii U.

Why would that be an issue if you just design an RTS that can be played with a controller?
