The last two fucking chapters of this game are so drawn out it's cancerous. Fucking 10 mini bosses that are irrelevant. That whole fucking chore on the motorbike. I just want to fucking finish this shit already.
The last two fucking chapters of this game are so drawn out it's cancerous. Fucking 10 mini bosses that are irrelevant...
i think they ruined the pacing of the original story, but the overall concensus seems to be "it's longer so it's good"
"its new so it's good"
the people defending the demake would defend anything
Not really.
>i think they ruined the pacing of the original story
Nah
Great points. Really told me a lot.
Shinra HQ was one of the only good parts in the game.
i'm on chapter 17 right now, and I decided to take a break from the game. The infiltration of shinra hq was may favorite part of the original, but in this game it's a damn slog.
>think they ruined the pacing of the original story,
Well, that's a given, the original is 5 hours long of straight to the point story beats linked together at a really reasonable pace. The pacing was gonna suffer anyways in this remake, however they could've played on that by adding more interesting and not completely irrelevant sections. The Jesse section is probably the closest to that, they spend all this time introducing the father etc and the fact that Jesse is an actress, however they do nothing with it.
The big issue is that after that they chose the easy way out, aka the lazy way, in simply making lots of the existing areas loaded with useless padding ( the sewers or the robot hands), so the pacing got absolutely murdered. Even if it's only the begining of the game, making it an entire and enjoyable story driven game still necessitates a creative effort that apparently the brains at SE don't have anymore.
The drawing out of everything has literally destroyed this game. It should have been two parts, split the original down the middle. They could have done so much better
The drum is a slog but Jenovah and chapter 18 are fucking great
There was so much clunk that didn't need to be in the game, especially considering there's a hardmode. I honestly feel like hard mode is pointless and you almost may as well just skip to Hard Chapter 17 just to do the VR and fight the extra enemies.
Assuming you DO want to ever play this game again or get the trophies:
>That fucking crane game more than once
>Dragged out graveyard again
>The sewers
>Getting the different Chapter 14 scenes
>That entire Hojo portion
I'm also surprised they even gave you the ability to take the stairs. It takes longer, the elevator has a better scene, and you get jack shit for doing it. I figured that each path would have it's pros and cons, stairs is literally 100% shit as an option. It feels like some of the content was made to experience exactly once, or not at all.
I know it sounds like I hated it, I really enjoyed it. It's just that some parts were so fucking tedious and alot of times it was shit that was barely even an element in the original. Like hell house going from an interesting random encounter to one of the most annoying bosses in the remake.
what, you didn't like tons of "cinematic" bosses that interrupt the flow of combat every 10 seconds so shiny flashy graphics? you want to actually be able to play the game?
Getting to the top is mostly cutscenes.
Yeah I liked most of the game but the last two chapters kinda sucked. I was planning on replaying the game on hard but I gave up on the idea after Hojo's lab, never going through that shit again
First Part: CD1
Second Part: The rest
This would've been perfect.
the number of times i lost a limit break charge because of some bullshit cinematic camera change, this fucking thing sucks
Breathe, don't seethe.
>I wish there was an option to skip gameplay.
Im not sure how people who like this game can even defend the extreme amount of padding towards the end.
I can't see how they missed this in play testing, and it seems like they opted just to not do shit about it, for something like a limit break the least they could do is not make it whiff, or refund your bar if it whiffs during a bullshit transition scene.
The entire fucking game is extremely drawn out, but that's that's what you get when you try to stretch out a 3-4 hour intro into a full game.
the real big pain is that time doesn't stop when you do a limit break. that means your character is sitting there getting hit and you can't do anything about it. if the enemy does a big attack, you stop while they do their "cinematic" animation, then you get the chance to dodge or block. you're unable to damage them while they have their stuff, probably because they didn't want to program in what would happen if you staggered them at the wrong time
This. I remember playing this while talking with friends trying to not spoil eachother and around the time I was doing the jessie missions I was thinking
>Damn it's gonna suck this ride is finally over
But without noticing, I'd say around the time you get aerith and the game repeatedly forces you into a walk&convo segment every couple minutes my enjoyment started to plummet.
It was cool to see jessie's parents and it was a nice touch that Cloud has a little room he bunkers in. But some of the shit added absolutely nothing to the plot. I don't give a fuck who oates is, I don't want to help find children, this orphanage shit is boring, and I think the moogle kid might be the lamest fruitiest addition I've seen in a game in the past 10 years.
After the ending it was kinda bittersweet because this game like 5 separate chapters that are "that one part" and I think about the fact they showed a trailer for this back in 2015 so I hope they're at least pretty far into part 2 because if this is all they've done and the next part is supposed to be OPEN then I can only imagine how much of a trainwreck it'd be with reimagined bullshit to pad it or keep it linear.
You really thought the game was gonna end without the wall market section?
Yall mind if I just eat your entire party's currently queue'd commands real quick?
This fucking GARBAGE ASS THING, who thought this was a good idea to prevent bosses from taking ANY FUCKING DAMAGE unless they got their little cinematic shit play first?
>reading comprehension
The Wall Market part is fine, in fact it can change depending on your choices so that makes it slightly more tolerable to. I'm talking about the entire section BEFORE it. Also the sewers suck especially fucking hard because they recycle the area and make you go through it twice, and half of the trip is chasing some retarded chubby pig goblin who stole some worthless charm. You could cut that entire part out of the game and practically nothing would be missed. Some parts are cool and add to the atmosphere or world, then there are parts that just had no real reason to exist.
Instead of eating stagger, atbs and limits, they should've given you 50% of said ressource back AT LEAST if there is a phase change. It's really not that hard to fix, Square. YOU BIG DUMB DUMBS.
I remember doing ascension on a boss only for the first hit to trigger that stupid fucking symbol then the boss pulled a king crimson and ate my command. Even better is that those bullshit cutscenes can eat your pray / chakra / heals too if they happen at the wrong time.
I also find it funny to look back on all the posts of people lying to themselves saying hard mode made them "rethink" strategies as if the only real strat isn't to just spam triple strike / over chage / true strike on stagger / fira + wards and pray or chakra. The game pretty much punishes you for trying anything else.
Oh and aga spells are fucking useless because if the enemy so much as tiptoes to the side everything except fire, bio, and thunder whiffs 70% of the time unless you get one of the enemies that actually gets "hit" by the first part of blizzard. Aero materia may as well just be called "HurtRude" cause he's the only motherfucker that stays put long enough for it to work.
all they had to do was remake final fantasy 7
Chapter 17 was pathetic. Its shit game design. Period. Its a bad game with an ff7 skin.
>get limit
>see enemy is almost stagger
>stagger them
>now I'm about to murder him with this limit
>lose limit cause enemy goes into 2nd evolution
whoever saw what aerial melee combat was like and decided to leave it at that should also be shot. yes, you only have one combo, and if the enemy just glides to the side you miss entirely. you also have no control so if the enemy is just a little too high your character won't jump and you'll just whiff. and sometimes your character decides not to jump even if they're 20 feet in the air. also if you do jump to attack the camera is going to spazz out so you can't see anything. also, scratch damage will send you plummeting back to the ground for a long recovery animation. what's that, use a ranged attacker? sorry, but this is a cloud and tifa only section so hope you like garbage combat
they did and literally everything is faithfully remade except they gave themselves the tiniest amount of wiggle room to do something different in the next one
I hate that the lock on doesn't focus the camera on the enemy. I had no idea who I was trying to hit sometimes.
Fuck that motorball "fight", it was tedious mini game bullshit.
