I dunno what they were even thinking. I know that's the standard NTSC framerate, but NTSC is dead with analog formats and using 29.97 would only cause headaches, bringing stuff like judder to modern 60Hz displays. Also the correct "cinematic" framerate would be 24fps, so what the hell.
