there's already a thread
also without sniper the game would literally just be fat heavies waddling around facetanking everything and mowing everything down. every game. fun

Soldiers and demos take out heavies pretty easily though and sometimes spies if they forget to turn around.

Lol heavy is everyone's bullet and explosion magnet, demos can make quick work of them and spies especially.

>Soldiers and demos take out heavies pretty easily though
no, you're thinking of a tf2 where snipers are in the background headshotting/bodyshotting said heavies and making them easier to finish off.

When a heavy is revved they cant escape sticky spam and soldiers can out damage from long range, if you play heavy for 10 minutes you will fiigure this out.

All of these threads are made by the same lime scout who got flick-shotted by a sniper and couldn't understand why.
Get over it.

Even with absolutely perfect aim, Demo takes 1.6 seconds to do enough damage to kill an unoverhealed Heavy. Meanwhile, Heavy takes 1 second, allowing for bad aim, to kill a Demo. Heavy can deal 550 damage per second.
You can theorycraft all day all you want, but in actual real games when heavies sit in a stack on the payload it's always a sniper that stops them.

Finally, the entire discussion of fucking removing a class is pointless anyway because
>implying valve would remove 11% of the game's content
>implying valve would remove one of the most undeniably popular classes (which people spent money on)
>implying valve would ever do anything at all
I say this every time retards who are bad at the game suggest removing sniper, pyro, soldier, demo, etc.

>and soldiers can out damage from long range
from "long range" even a revved heavy can literally sidestep slow ass rockets, and the whopping 40 damage per perfectly aimed direct long range rocket is nothing to a class who can sit on the payload for free regen, carries around a full 300HP free heal whose only downside is making him stand still (thus vulnerable to snipers, and normally has a medic attached to him since he's the easiest class in the game to pocket.
>When a heavy is revved they cant escape sticky spam
they don't need to, it takes demo longer to kill heavy with stickies/nades than it takes a heavy to kill demo. the only way you're going to outDPS a heavy is by catching him unrevved. see

I quit TF2 after the pyro update, which google tells me was 12 years ago, wtf.

TF2 legitimately gains nothing from the inclusion of the sniper.

Heavy is boring though.
>Guy whining about Snipers 24/7 is a wojack faggot
Figures

>t. "WAAAAAAAHHHHHH I GOT HEADSHOT BY RUNNING INTO THE OPEN VALVE PLEASE FIX"

That's why it's one of the most popular classes, right? Because nobody gains any fun from it?
>you will now shift argument tack to saying they're having fake fun

The only real problem with Sniper is that he makes Spy pretty worthless at his job.

No good demo is going to sit right in front of a heavies face where his bullets do the most damage they will spam from a decent range being at that range reduces the damage output of the heavy and the spread of the bullets may make more miss. If a demo is ever infront of a heavies face its usually by surprise, if the heavy isnt revved then thats an extra second that the heavy will do no damage to the demo and he will most likely lose to the demo if the heavy is revved though then the demo would most likely lose unless they can escape round a corner or something.

Literally every class has something to deal with heavies.
>Heavy takes 1 second, allowing for bad aim, to kill a Demo
At point-blank range, yeah. The Minigun is basically a melee weapon. Demo can land three pills on a heavy way before he's even thinking about revving up.

they're not having fake fun, they're having fun actively removing fun for anyone else's experience in the game
remove the class, remove that motivation, game becomes more fun

>they're having fun actively removing fun for anyone else's experience in the game
by that argument the ability to kill should be removed
>when he kills me he's having fun actively removing my fun

fps games at their core involve actively removing the fun of other players by being better than them, dumbfuck shitter lmao

Yeah, griefers, trolls and hackers have fun too, what's your point?

The thing I don't like about snipers is unless you're 5 feet in front of them, you can't counter at all

>remove sniper, therefore removing 99% of all aimbotters

i just wish the game wasn't buggy as fuck and left to die a slow agonizing death via blatant spinbotters that can't ever be kicked, and awful matchmaking that intentionally forces you into the tard wrangler position 9 games out of 10 unless you're playing with 5 other friends

Not even shooting them to make the crosshairs jiggle does anything to an experienced sniper.

lol

The game would be better if they removed every class except Scout, Soldier, Demo and Medic.

>unless you're playing with 5 other friends
You won't ever end a round playing with your 5 friends, some drooling gibus players will get sick of getting stomped and leave and your friends will get autobalanced.
Valve's current approach to casual is actively harming the "team" part of "Team Fortress 2".

Also love how it auto balances you without asking or joining a match when it's already done

wtf's up with your FOV

By long range i meant a sensible distance a soldier would normally be at where rockets do about 50 damage if you had 2 soldiers at a time doing the same thing that would be 100 damage every second or so which would wipe of most people on a cart. The cart doesnt really give that much regen not enough to save your life in a fight at least. A good heavy will run behind cover and have his back against a wall to eat a sandwich, any class can kill him if they catch him in the animation not just snipers. Having a medic makes any class harder to kill thats the whole point of overheal, you could pocket a soldier and then he could take out more heavies, or you could pick of the medic from a distance.

nothing, I have the scope texture disabled.

Sniper is a balanced class with counterplay which you can beat by being better at the game, which is the fundamental purpose of FPS games. Players from toplevel competitive right down to pubs kill Snipers all the time without breaking a sweat.
Griefers, trolls and hackers do not have counterplay and do not involve being better than the other player, therefore break the fundamental purpose of FPS games, which is having fun by killing people by being better than them.

Of course you can tell the difference between the two, but you're being intentionally dense to excuse your low skill at the game, so you pretend playing Sniper is the same as having an unbeatable hack.
>in the theoretical situation where Valve actually did something, asking them to remove a class because of hackers instead of take action against the hackers themselves
>being THIS DUMB that he doesn't think aimbots for every other class exist

Even projectile classes have efficient aimbots. Pyro has an autoreflect cheat. Removing content because cheaters exist is the domain of absolute brainlets.

Something i learned recently is if you type retry into the console before the autobalance timer reaches 0 then you will rejoin the match on the same team. This doesnt work if the you get autobalanced instantly though.

Whats the counterplay
