Which one was better Yas Forums, Nintendo 64 or Gamecube?
Which one was better Yas Forums, Nintendo 64 or Gamecube?
Gamecube
I like the N64 better, the GameCube had some good games but overall the quality of a lot of games on it weren’t as good as earlier ones.
Mario 64 is better than Sunshine
Ocarina and Majora are better than Wind Waker and Twilight Princess
Mario Kart 64 is better than Double Dash
Mario Party 1,2,3 were overall a lot better than 4,5,6,7
On top of that a lot of games are missing on the GameCube, no traditional DK, Kirby or Yoshi game but the GameCube did have a really good Metroid game, SoulCalibur 2 is still my favourite in the series, Capcom had a lot of great games on GameCube as well. I still prefer the N64 though but I’m biased and not really nostalgic for the GameCube since I was a teenager when it came out
>>/vr/
GameCube also had great games like Gotcha Force, Gladius and Lost Kingdoms 1/2
Easily one of the most experimental times in gaming.
N64 had models comprised of smashed together polygons and devs who couldn't figure out how to make a camera work.
It's fine for it's time, it was trying to do something revolutionary, but they honed their skills and were able to crank out some truely great games on the Game Cube.
I never had any problems controlling the camera for N64 games, seems like a meme to me
I've never understood these criticisms about graphics and camera angles.. To this day I still don't find any difficulty with the camera in games like Mario 64. And fuck, I love polygons and pop in fog so much. Jesus I love the way those things look.
I'd say that the Gamecube has a more diverse library overall, but that the N64 had a few more classic or essential titles.
N64's problem was that the vast majority of good games were either Nintendo (first or second party), or Rare.
Of course not that there wasn't good shit made by other third parties, like Mischief Makers and Turok.
Well yeah Mario 64's camera is suppose to be one of the best, at least for it's time.
The Polygons the jank and the lack of super neat unlockables are what really get me.
Still have an N64 hooked up and occasionally play some of my old games.
shut the fuck up
Melee shits on Smash 64, so your argument is terrible.
GameCube easily. You could argue that Mario and Zelda were better on N64 but the GC had far more variety in its library to compensate.
lol the gamecube for sure, anyone saying N64 is delusional
One game
Yoshi's story is trash, dk64 is a boring collectathon that aged like milk.
Reevaluate your opinions.
DK64 is better than Super DK only zoomers who don’t have patience don’t like it
reminder: 1/5 of the N64 library is shovelware racing games
Did the european versions get VHS style cases?
1. What the fuck is Super DK?
2. No, DK64 is one of Rare’s weaker platformers.
They're both pretty shit. N64 has no games, Gamecube has no games. Give me anything else that came out those generations.
F-Zero GX shits on X
no, just no
have you played dk64 recently? It's shit.
European I take it?
American, Nintendo lost their magic after the SNES because all the third parties that brought it left them.
Go away zoomer
Yes I have, I replay it annually
they both have good things about them and glaring flaws as consoles but i'll give it to the gamecube, if only slightly
Came her to post this
I wanted to be a ninten drone because of pokemon, but after seeing the library of the cube, I was severely disappointed. Sane with the N64 compared to the ps1.
I assume you meant Donkey Kong Country? Why in the world would you call it Super DK? Are you stupid?
That’s what it’s called mate
Interesting. I’m always surprised to see people hating on the GC library. It had several good RPGs, decent fighting games and some really good first party stuff. Out of curiosity, what was it lacking to you guys? I personally think the GC library is overall vastly superior to the N64.
Are you Japanese? If not, then you call it Donkey Kong Country. Retard.
The boxes on my shelf say Super Donkey Kong, why so angry kid?
I liked burnout games beter than those things.
Also, there was a shitton of game for the ps2, so it really had no competence in that aspect. There was things for everyone.
In the cube, it all felt tiny and restricted, like you said it was mostly those things, which not many people like. Not to tmention the stupid idea of nintendo of focring their mini dvds to "fight piracy" which was a joke because shit was already piated like half a yeatr later anyways, the fact you couldn't put a hard drive at all and that you were forced to use expensive as fuck memory cards (hell, even worse than ps2 ones) just put the final nail in the coffin for me. also I didn't have much interest in zelda, and Mario after SM64 didn't grab my attention much either.
Do you also call final fantasy fainaru fantaji?
GameCube at least have third-parties unlike N64 where Capcom only released 3 games for it, 2 of which were ports.
Stop being a fucking weeb. Pathetic.
>It had several good RPGs
Like 3 or 4.
>decent fighting games
Preferred the other platforms
>some really good first party stuff
some of the weakest at the time.
>what was it lacking to you guys
Nintendo launched the platform with the Mario game nobody wanted: A Luigi game which was basically Resident Evil without the horror - don't know who thought that was a good idea. Their first party games kept dripping out with solutions looking for problems like the Pikmin games, the unbearably slow backtrackvania Metroid Prime and eventually Mario Sunshine and Wind Waker, the two of which were basically unfinished games they scrambled to put together, put scotch tape over the blatantly unfinished parts and said deal with it. Bold, but retarded. Meanwhile the PS2 ended up having some of the best games of the generation, constant third party support that kept getting bigger and better.
What ended up was the Gamecube was full of underwhelming games that I could play whenever (and eventually did, to my disappointment), PS2 and Xbox held the zeitgeist and to this day there's great games worth discovering on both of those.
N64 rivals the WiiU as Nintendo's worst console.
>not many people like that stuff
Wat? The PS2 is possibly the biggest JRPG weeb console of all time?
gamecube has the goat library
>PS2 ended up having some of the best games of the generation
which looked like mud on the ps2 and ran at 20fps
the gamecube was less of a no games machine than the N64
60fps and were the best looking games of the generation. What are you talking about nintendie?
The box says Final Fantasy in English, see Uh okay I’ll just import games from Canada instead of going to my local BookOff next time
>xbox over gamecube
now I've seen everything
too obvious
For the non-Americans itt, was the PS2 popular in your countries literally because of FIFA and racing games? I always wonder what sells in other countries. The undying love that the PlayStation brand gets in Europe has always been curious to me.
Give me Breakdown, Phantom Dust, Steel Battalion, Crazy Taxi 3, Outrun 2006, Deathrow, Tony Hawk in HD, Metal Wolf Chaos, Mechassault, Crimson Skies, Crimson Sea, Fucking Panzer Dragoon Orta, Riddick, Magatama, Gun Valkyrie, Ninja Gaiden Black and Otogi 1 & 2 over anything on the Gamecube.
dmc3se > (does gamecube even have similar action games?)
VROOM VROOM!
The ones that came to the cube I don't like. Most of the people I knew always skipped over the cube and xbox. They all wanted a ps2, always. Idk how it was in your area.
The only thing everybody agreed with that was bad about the ps2 was the facdt the lens broke extremely fast, but that was normal due to shit hardware and obviously everybody playing non stop the fuckton of games it had.
