damn youre going to make me start playing vidya again

The DLC's areas are so damn fun to replay
It's too bad the first part of the game gets dull quickly. I always have to take long breaks from playing the game on a new character because going through grimdark castles with the saw spear/cleaver gets old quick after the millionth time. Wish there was a bit more variety in the early areas and more interesting weapons available early on

There was before they patched Yharnham skip.

kosm*

There’s a new skip. Yosefka’s Clinic to Forbidden Woods.

Really, if the gate to the woods was open at the start and you could tackle it in any order, it'd be fine.

it pissed me off when I realized the DLC fishing hamlet region can be partially seen from the amygdala nightmare region and that it was all cut content. I know fromsoft does that shit all the time but it really fucks up a worlds plot and lore when shit gets hacked off and rearranged.

Byrgenwerth...

Byrgenwerth...

It was likely unfinished content, so the only way to make finishing it economically viable was to repackage it as DLC. Or would you rather it not exist at all? Nothing’s free in this world, scrub.

I'd unironically pay an extra $20-$30 to get the original product in its proper order, but I know very few people would do that. it's very obvious that the game's major plotline ends completely abruptly to absolutely everyone, I really would have loved to see how it was properly finished when connected with the cut content.

I'm doing my first playthrough of Bloodborne and I'm fycking loving it. Anyway, I was wondering, when is the best time to start the DLC? Should I just complete the main game as it's my first time playing it and then do it on NG+? I just started upper cathedral ward/nightmare of mensis and did all the optional areas(I think)and I feel like I'm nearing the end

Good by little kosm baby
you were so cute uwo

Shit happens in the development cycle. The “original” product in its proper order doesn’t resemble the release we got AT ALL. And yes, you’re in a fringe autistic minority if you’re willing to pay $90 for every game.

Around the end of the game, if not directly before the final boss is the best time.

Do it immediately after Nightmare of Mensis

You do realize its sony pushing them too right ? Stop defending shitty practices. Its better when the product is finished as the creator wanted it to be.

Im still kinda salty that they didnt reveal more about the Pthumerian race.

I’d recommend doing the DLC before NG+. It’s significantly more challenging than anything in the base game in NG already.

Do it after Nightmare of Mensis but before killing its last boss (Mergo's) since you'll get extra dialogue from the doll if you finish the DLC before then

It’d be better? Sure. But economic constraints are a fact of life, buddy, and that’s never going to change.

Don't do the final boss before the dlc. The game starts a NG+ cycle automatically after the last boss. When you kill wet nurse go to the dlc.

I know but publishers pushing developers is not good for anyone apart from the monetary gain of the publisher. For games with heavy emphasis on the world building and exploration the players have nothing to gain. Specifically bloodborne was also released in a poor technical state from which it still suffers. Sony is partly to blame for this too.

I mean they revealed quite a bit if you go down the rabbit hole. They were originally slaves to the Great Ones who protected them while they slept. At some point they broke free and started following their own monarchs. Like Yharnam, their society was built on the blood of the Great Ones, and eventually destroyed by it. Loran was consumed by the Beast Plague, Isz ascended and became kin, etc.

It was a huge critical and commercial success and regarded by many as one of the best games ever made. Speculating about what it could have been is pointless. Sometimes the financial or production constraints themselves actually contribute to a better project, since they keep the creatives focused and force them to make hard decisions about what’s most important to get into the game.

For examples of how too much creative freedom can be a bad thing, see Hideo Kojima.

Going through the streets of yaharghul seeing all the petrified people melted to the walls was so interesting to look at everyone says it was to make the one reborn but I would have liked to have seen it happen myself

I agree. Its a magnificent game regardless. What is most important to get into the game is what From wants to put into the game and pressuring them to release sooner might take some of that freedom away is what I am saying.

Can i get a lore rundown?
>Where did healing blood come from?
>what is paleblood?
>What are the pthumerans?
>Why did the hunter workshop even disband?
>What is the churches endgoal?
>Why is iosephka making aliens
>what even are the aliens? Eyes in them what the fuck?
>what the fuck even is the doll? Is she a deeper character than i realize?
>redpill me on the gods/great ones. Why are they seemingly fighting one another? Whats up with baby mergo being the final goal in this game to end the hunt
>on that note, what the fuck is the purpose of the unseen village people? Why do they seem to worship the moon?
I feel like a lore-let and i refuse to watch vaatividya videos

You're a fucking retard.

do the dlc once you get to byrgenwerth

It happens in the instant that you kill Rom. Mensis had been gathering people to be sacrificed at Yahargul, littering the whole area with corpses, attempting to open a portal to the Nightmare and Micolash and Mergo, which Rom was keeping them from accessing.

Killing Rom allows their ritual to succeed, but Rom was ALSO constraining Queen Yharnam, who wants her baby back. She sends the Pthumerian bell-ringers to Yahargul, and they start doing what they do — resurrecting corpses to serve them. And thanks to Mensis’s rituals, there are ample corpses around, so Mensis in the waking world is quickly wiped out. The One Reborn is just a mass of all of these resurrected corpses created by Yharnam’s Pthumerian bell-ringers. You t wasn’t summoned by Mensis, it was part of the thing that destroyed them.

Immediately after you hear someone mention Kos

>>Where did healing blood come from?
Ayy lmaos
>>what is paleblood?
Dunno
>>What are the pthumerans?
Proto-humans
>>Why did the hunter workshop even disband?
Dunno
>>What is the churches endgoal?
Ayy lmao blood/power
>>Why is iosephka making aliens
It's not Iosefka
>>what even are the aliens? Eyes in them what the fuck?
Just ayy lmaos
>>what the fuck even is the doll? Is she a deeper character than i realize?
Prolly not
>>redpill me on the gods/great ones. Why are they seemingly fighting one another?
They are all impotent and trying to have a prodigy
Whats up with baby mergo being the final goal in this game to end the hunt
Dunno
>>on that note, what the fuck is the purpose of the unseen village people? Why do they seem to worship the moon?
They are insane lol

>Where did healing blood come from?
Old blood down in the tombs
>what is paleblood?
Unclear
>What are the pthumerans?
Ancestral race that worshiped the great ones and somehow knew how to communicate with them
>Why did the hunter workshop even disband?
Probably the atrocities committed by Gherman and the Bergynwerth Scholars in the fishing village where Kos washed up
>What is the churches endgoal?
Use old blood to communicate with the great ones and cure illness
>Why is iosephka making aliens
No actual reason other than wanting to get close to the great ones
>what even are the aliens? Eyes in them what the fuck?
Kin. Its the closest thing a human can get to being a great one (since no one can actually become a great one)
>>what the fuck even is the doll? Is she a deeper character than i realize?
Never looked into it
>redpill me on the gods/great ones. Why are they seemingly fighting one another? Whats up with baby mergo being the final goal in this game to end the hunt
Dont know real reason but the main driving factor is Great Ones giving birth. A great one cant give birth the normal way and needs a surrogate
>on that note, what the fuck is the purpose of the unseen village people? Why do they seem to worship the moon?
dunno

Theres actually ONE lore question I cant find an answer for.

What is the SNAKE plague? Its only mentioned once and I think the only time you come face to face with it is in the Shadows of Yharnam boss fight.

Why was Mensis gathering to complete a ritual ? Micolash was the head of the school of Mensis and he was in the nightmare. There is something I am not getting right or missing. Also how was Rom preventing them ?

Does anyone know where i can read about the lore? The game seems very interesting but i can't find every item on my own and connect every single dot

Presume another side-effect of the ayy lmao blood, like the beast plague

unseen village was created by mensis with the only goal being the creation of The One Reborn. just snatch a bunch of people and create that fuckup.

fuck i love the lore in this game I never knew that shit

Quite simple. Micolash was in fact the first (even before Willhem) to discover the reality of the eldritch truth. This said truth was hidden by Rom (hence the name Vacuous). Killing Rom revealed the truth and allowed the rest of Micolash's students to enter the nightmare.

>Where did healing blood come from?
Ebrietas, who was discovered by the Church in the old Labyrinth and kept by the Choir beneath the clocktower.
>what is paleblood?
Hard to say, best theory is that the Paleblood hunters were the “club” led by Gerhman and Laurence who beckoned the Moon Presence at the Old Workshop, which caused Old Yharnam to be destroyed and created the Hunter’s Dream.
>What are the pthumerans?
An ancient society, precursors to humans, who were originally slaves to the Old Ones before gaining independence. The Labyrinths are their ruined cities.
>Why did the hunter workshop even disband?
They beckoned the Moon Presence and were enslaved by it.
>What is the churches endgoal?
Different factions have different goals, but basically to ascend and become Great Ones themselves.
>Why is iosephka making aliens
It’s part of her research, with her goal being her own personal ascension to becoming kin or a Great One.
>what even are the aliens? Eyes in them what the fuck?
The blue ones were humans.
>what the fuck even is the doll? Is she a deeper character than i realize?
Gerhman designed her based on his apprentice Lady Maria, who ultimately slit her wrists after what she and Gerhman did to the Fishing Hamlet for Byrgenwerth.
>redpill me on the gods/great ones. Why are they seemingly fighting one another? Whats up with baby mergo being the final goal in this game to end the hunt
There’s not much reason to think they’re fighting each other.
>on that note, what the fuck is the purpose of the unseen village people? Why do they seem to worship the moon?
Unseen Village is Mensis, one of two opposing leadership factions of the Church. See my other post in this thread for explanation of Mensis’s goals. They’re basically trying to reconnect with Micolash in the Nightmare.
