The majority of us liked MGS2, there's nothing particularly wrong with switching up the cast in a game. Druckmann is quoted as saying Joel and Ellie's story was done after TLOU1, what are they going to do? Keep beating a dead horse? Fuck that.
MGS2 is fucking Kino compared to what the leaks of the LOU2 tries to pull.
I can. I just can't define it in a way that everyone will agree on, because matters of taste are subjective.
I'll define bad instead. Yours.
So then you can't define it
>dialogue says a lot with a little and makes you like the characters
>story isn't boring and makes you want to find out what happens next
>you learn something without being patronised
>childhood tomboy is a protagonist
>instant praise from Yas Forums
There.
What's your logic?
Stop defending this shit.. Raiden was gay enough not to like him as a protagonist
This guys support Palestinian genocide
>Plays to the strengths of the medium rather than trying to avoid the medium entirely while you tell a story (looking at you, druckmann)
>Says a lot with as little as possible
>Does not beat you over the head with whatever message you're trying to convey, but instead trusts the viewer to infer for themselves what to think as both the protagonists and antagonists have issues
>Timeless concepts of universal human struggle are given metaphor if that's what you want your story to be about, rather than some current event political bullshit that will be forgotten about in 10 years
>Characters, even the protagonist, are never, ever flawless, and have to face consequences for doing bad things
>setting and events feel like they would happen whether or not a reader, viewer, or player was present to witness them
You say you can define something but then say you can't. Therfore you can't.
If that's how you want to see it, sure. I can't, and no one can. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, of course.
This. I would argue with that last bit if we're talking about interactive storytelling though. It does lean into power fantasy a lot.
MGS2 writing used methods to make the switch be less shit.
It didn't shit on the previous protagonist.
The previous protagonist in fact takes a mentor role for the new guy.
Previous protagonist gives approval to the new guy, old writing trick: get audience to like a character by having an already popular character like him.
The plot has a reason for a new protagonist (duplicate the last protagonist )
New protagonist doesn't take or steal anything from the old one aside from the role of protagonist.
This game is copying MGS2 at a surface level only looking at what it successfully did without the how and why.
Also side note: this is why MGS2 Raiden >MGS4 because 4 was made in large part with fanservice in mind and as a reaction to fans responces, but that being better/worse is my opinion.
There you go: en.wikipedia.org
Wrong: the opposite of what Cuckman writes.
Even twilight is a better story.
If you write the literal opposite of what the "cuckman" does, it'll be just as boring. Ideology would just be it's opposite.
>because matters of taste are subjective.
That's a coping mechanism. There is no subjective answer to 1+1.
I didn't realize 1+1 was a matter of taste.
There is, that's the problem. Nothing stops the retard from going that it's three by invoking troll logic. People aren't going to play by the rules if sophistry works.
It's not how i want to see it..it's how it is. if someone asked me to define pleasure or grief, I would be able to. But when someone asked you to define good writing you can't, otherwise you would of done so. I understand your it's subjective argument but that completely ruins your "I can" statement. I'll say it again...you can't define good writing because you cant. Go ahead and prove me wrong
So what you're saying is that this is yet another My Perspective > Your Perspective thread on Yas Forums?
Okay, but just because it can't be defined doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
>There is no subjective answer to 1+1.
You say this but I doubt anyone here can define 1 in words without resorting to using words that mean 1.
"Debate is meant to be played by rules" vs. "ma postmodernism". Also trolls poking both sides for the giggles. The usual.
not bad writing
Writing that offers meaningful insight into the human condition or scientific reality. /thread, retard
good writing is not being fun. You're not allowed to like the characters, you're not allowed to enjoy what you're doing, you should hate everything that's happening and come away from the game feeling worse than you did going in
/thread
>meaningful insight into the human condition
Still upset no one liked YIIK Mr, Allanson?
Meant for
anything not directed, written, edited, or published by a jew = good writing
>good is bad
kek
It's all subjective but in very general terms it's like porn, you know it's porn and not just a medical diagram or some artsy painting when you see it.
Bitch Metal Gear Rising already taught me about how violence breeds violence and they let me beat up a U.S. senator while doing so.
People were fucking pissed when MGS2 came out and figured you wouldn't play as Snake, took several years and some hindsight until people started sucking the Kojidong for this move.
