I think this has a good case for best media of all time in any genre.

Do I need to beat SH1 before I play this? I tried, but I can't stand it. It's just too dated and janky.
no
but if you don't like SH1 you are a tastelet anyways
I imagine it would have been cool back in the day, but I just can't with those fucking controls and graphics and just wandering around the fog until you stumble on something.
>A videogame with shit gameplay, and a horror game that isn't scary.
>best anything.
kek
Why is the music so tone deaf in these games? The main theme in SH1 is great purely because of the really memorable mandolin, but other than that it’s cheesy pop rock garbage that feels like it’s in the wrong game. SH3 is the worst for this.
SH2 is great, but from a gameplay standpoint it’s really mediocre. Some of the puzzles are downright nonsensical, too.
no
>I can't stand it
you're an absolute pleb
>Complex and interesting characters
>Subverts your expectations but in a good way that improves the story a lot
>Gameplay and Story feed into eachother perfectly
>Amazing atmosphere and music
>Peak psychological horror
>Historical Society
Yeah. SH2 might be one of the greatest videogames ever made.
>>Complex and interesting characters
Every character is incredibly two-dimensional. I stopped reading right there. James talks like a stilted clown and constantly repeats himself and states the obvious. The thought they could write something in vein of Lynch, but to be honest they never even get close to the master of uncanny shit even though the visuals hit, because the japs didn't actually understand what made Lynch chilling.
>I stopped reading right there
Don't worry. Everyone can tell that you can't read
Definite masterpiece
What's the last book you read?
I think the cutscenes are some of the best for how strange they are. I don't understand what they did but something about the framerate or rendering or something makes the cutscenes look different than from any other game. They didn't replicate the effect with 3 or 4, it's only in 2. I think the soundtrack and overall sound design of 3 is better than 2, tho.
Do you want to make a snappy comeback after you've embarrassed yourself?
The Great Gatsby.
the brothers karamozov
Actually, I make my living reading.
Reading out tweets on Youtube isn't a job
That's true, because I'm a developmental editor. I work mostly on novels.
if you can't stand the ps1 look, ur gay but i kinda get it. the z buffer shit annoys me to death. 2 is standalone anyway.
>emotionlet tries to discuss music and tone
cringe
the tone and music fit perfectly to create a one of a kind experience. you didn't get it because you lack emotional depth
You might be doing a pretty shitty job then if you're not able to read.
It's freelance, and you're expected to do a sample usually, so you can't really do a shitty job. I'm sorry you think Silent Hill 2 has good characters, and that you get really offended with someone who disagrees, but thems the breaks, as they say.
Simply too kino for zoomer brains to comprehend
> you're expected to do a sample usually
You didn't do one though. You were just retarded.
Didn't do one what? A sample? For what exactly? Are you okay?
How many times are you going to goalpost until you admit that you were retarded? You constantly bring up things unrelated to what was said to you.
Whay are you talking about? At literally no point in any of the first 4 games does a rock track play in gameplay. The only one that qualifies at all is the intro to SH3, which again, only plays at the main menu, and the credits theme in SH4.
Silent Hill 2 is just as dated and janky. I would be hard pressed to recommend SH 1 or 2 to anyone. This is coming from someone who just finished SH 2 yesterday for the first time and has play SH 1 prior.
What is "going to goalpost," exactly?
I'm sorry, but maybe you can't write. You were the one that inquired about my reading skills, and I read and write for a living, and the conversation followed logically from there until you started talking retarded.
>Goalposting yet again because of embarrassment
I accept your concession.
Man I'm a zoomer and I just finished Silent Hill 2. It is perhaps one of the greatest games I have ever played, a gripping experience from start to finish. I admit, though, I almost dropped it from the get go because of the "bad" voice acting and tank controls, but the atmosphere was what kept me interested and I eventually came to realize that such things were deliberate choices made by Team Silent to further the narrative and experience of interactive psychological horror. I guess whether people get that or not, is what separates the thinking men from the brainlet dinguses.
I've not experienced such a powerful, indescribable grip placed on me by a video game before. A lot of Yas Forumsirgins like to toss the word kino around, but this game was truly KINO.
This was my first Silent Hill game and I loved it. I just started Silent Hill 1, and I'm looking forward to playing through it and the rest of the series.
Not him, but the first two tracks on SH4 ost are rock tracks and most of the shit they do is like just basic-bitch rock and roll groves with random pedal bark and piano arpeggios all over them. It's the musical equivalent of film school students trying to be "deep" in the most cliche way possible. It's not a bad sound actually, but waverer and tender sugar are rock tracks
I didn't concede, but it's good that you're giving up to save me the trouble of reposting all the replies and letting you determine where your medication stopped working.
I played the game when it was current and probably the only person here that did, because the rest of you are like 20. It's shit and makes a farce of Jacob's Ladder and Twin Peaks and all of the far superior material it ingraciously apes.
>N-No u
Damn. All that supposed novel reading must have really payed off.
