I'll just leave this here

Obligatory Yume Nikki metion

I feel like most people don't play this game long enough to get to the good parts with the world deteriorating and the murderers stalking you

Yeah, that "essential absurdistcore" image not including Yume Nikki is ridiculous. I know you have hipster cred to maintain or whatever but for someone actually new to the genre looking for "essential" titles to play, YN (and its constellation of fangames) is as important as LSD, Hylics, Middens and the Eastern Mind series.

Obligatory Cement Mixer Simulator 2003 mention

>no Neverhood/Skull Monkeys

I didn't know there were such motifs in this game. I remember turning back and seeing some dude pointing his gun at me and killing me, but not the world deteriorating or stalking.

Every weird games thread I bring up The Music Machine and I feel like it's a super underappreciated game.

Ditto NaissanceE. Those two (and Moon Sliver, though that's more psych horror that just surreal) are some of the best weird $0.99 Steam Summer Sale finds I ever had.

The longer you play the more the world seed changes in that way, as I recall, but I will confess I never sank that much time into LSD.

It's a meme to a certain generation of players but it's kind of sad to think that there's a younger generation who will never experience Frog Fractions for the first time.

>Ядepный Tитбит
Nice.

>Grezzo 2
unbelievably based

I'm kinda glad LSD is still weird and mysterious. I don't want to sound like a hipster, but I thank games like I Am Bread and Goat Simulator for magentizing the "meme game" audience to them while LSD can just remain weird.
It's a relic of early livestreaming where it was just a dude playing the game without a camera or microphone and overreacting to everything.

>huh this looks fun
>goes to download it
>3 GB
what the fuck? am i downloading the right thing?

>Grezzo Due
>MS-DOS
Who made this shit?

Was it rape?

Don't, It's shit... if you want a cool weird Doom mod search for Archie, Lilith.pk3 or Delaweare

>No Doshin
Belongs on there
No game like it out there

LSD is fuckin great

This was like one of the first 3d platformer games or something right?

Does Chulip count as weird? It's definitely surreal in ways, and it's theme of overcoming poverty and rejection despite the brutality of the world works very well, but is intentionally tedious and frustrating, at times.

Nice collection. I can't wait for Crypt Underworlds. The new areas are fucking surreal.

Speaking of weird games I think the PS1 had a whole bunch of them as they were trying out new 3D stuff.

I remember seeing this trailer on a demo disc for an adventure game where the guy is stuck in a desert and some dude with a black tentacle thing for a hand throws him down a bottomless pit. Anybody remember this? I always wanted to play it on account of it being so freaky and this thread just reminded me of it.

You had weird shit like discworld and stuff coming out arount that time as well. I don't think experimental stuff like this comes out anymore.

Yep! It's also weird as fuck

I went through my old downloads folders last night and found a file called "TheWorldV2.rar" that I apparently downloaded forever ago. Gave it a go because I downloaded it for a reason and a couple neat things came as a result. One, I found that it was an early build of a game called 21# The World, which is available for free and is pretty neato.

Two, I ran across the Egglike Wiki and, while I'm not fond of the name, seems like a resource for the kind of games fans of LSD and YN really should know about.

I love LSD, i love that it isnt even fully understood as a game yet. Ive been waiting for someone to do a full deep analysis of the mechanics and all the secrets, but who knows if that will ever happen

that's surrealism not absurdism

guess i'll post the classic
